When Obama sent Iran $400m + $1.3bn in interest in 2016 Trump called it "insane" and he and others spent a decade mocking the idea of "pallets of cash" even though it was Iran's own money, American prisoners were released, courts were likely to require the U.S. payment, and Iran had just agreed to significant and verified reductions and restrictions on its nuclear program for 15+ years. Now Trump is giving Iran up to ten times that amount of revenue--one of the most significant measures of sanctions relief provided to the Islamic Republic since its founding--in exchange for marginal and temporary relief from the big increase in oil prices his actions have caused, without any concessions from Tehran, and even as Iran continues to target the United States, its allies, and world oil supplies. No way to read as anything other than desperate recognition of the situation Trump's own actions have created and the lack of available alternatives for dealing with it.

I’m surprised markets aren’t pricing in long term disruption of card networks + interchange like $V and $MA. By $CRCL and $COIN. From Global Markets Head at Circle: "Over the past nine months, AI agents completed 140 million payments with a total transaction volume of 43 million US dollars. Among these, 98.6% were settled in USDC, with an average transaction amount of only 0.31 US dollars." Card networks and % fee payment processors like $PYPL are likely going to be cooked?

Elon, Andreesen, Sacks, Ackman, Chamath, Vivek, on and on, I remember when for all these guys it was critical to elect Trump because our national debt was a crisis and existential threat to the future of America only he would tackle. Don’t hear so much about that anymore.

Pretty incredible that for the second straight year, right around the beginning of spring, Donald Trump made a rash, confounding, and sudden decision that snatched an Article I power away from the US Congress, and sent markets reeling as mass confusion spread throughout the world, despite the WH’s liberal use of use of the word “liberation” as a defense of the policy.
