WATCH: NBC’s ‘Today’ spends 91 seconds warning Trump going to Walter Reed for a physical today places “a growing spotlight” “on the President’s health ahead of his 80th birthday” and the “visible health issues” include “bruising on his hand,” “swelling on his lower legs,” and “doz[ing] off some recent White House events” Garrett Haake touted the fact that an ABC/Washington Post poll found only “40% of Americans believes the President has the mental sharpness” to do the job and only 44 percent in “physical capacity” to be in office

Senator Padilla is absolutely right: the people who tried to overthrow our government and attacked police don’t deserve a taxpayer-funded payout. We’ll keep fighting to ensure this never happens. op: @alexpadilla4ca

A United States Senator got pepper-sprayed for trying to conduct oversight at a detention facility where hunger strikes are taking place. If ICE is willing to use force against elected officials and protestors asking questions, imagine what’s happening behind closed doors to everyone else. I stand with everyone demanding accountability at Delaney Hall and calling for its immediate closure.

@ChrisVanHollen Well, if you Democrat clowns hadn’t let millions of illegals into the country do you think this would even be a consideration? Nope. Boomerang, dope.

This is a direct attack on our legal immigration system: making it more unworkable, punishing families, workers, and businesses.   It’s also unlawful. We must and will fight back. time.com/article/2026/0…

“It’s almost like you’re being punished for being on Social Security." Last year, Donald Trump and Frank Bisignano slashed staff — and now Social Security field offices across the country are effectively CLOSED. That's a backdoor cut to Americans' benefits and a giant betrayal.
More Perfect Union@MorePerfectUS

NEW: Despite his promises to protect Social Security, Trump is cutting it. DOGE slashed 7,000 agency staff – and local offices nationwide are shuttering. 70 million Americans are navigating a crisis to get the payments they need. “It’s almost like you’re being punished.”

It is an incredible honor to receive an endorsement from Congresswoman Maxine Waters. She has been one of the most powerful voices in Washington as Ranking Member of the House Financial Services Committee, opening the doors of banking and finance to Black and Brown communities who were locked out for generations.

The way I see it, two things need to happen to save our democracy from Donald Trump: [1] Trump must be IMPEACHED and REMOVED. - Trump has to be held accountable, and not just as a formality. - We also need formal investigations into ALL members of his Executive Branch [2] We have to stop MAGA authoritarianism for good. - Congress must utilize the full power of the Constitution to pass legislation that guards against any future authoritarian threats. It’ll take unprecedented courage, cooperation, and integrity to get this done. But we have to do it, because our survival as a republic depends on it. I’m asking you to chip in $5 to my Democratic campaign to help me get this done in Congress. Are you with me? gc4ny.com/The-Way-I-See-…

A birth certificate proves citizenship in this country. Trump does not want that to be the case. If the Supreme Court rules in Trump’s favor in the birthright citizenship case, a U.S. passport will be the only way to prove citizenship. “If you don’t have [a U.S. passport], you’re not going to be able to register to vote,” Marc Elias said.

I went to Delaney Hall after reports of unsafe and unconstitutional conditions inside, and what I heard from families and advocates was heartbreaking. The people being held there are fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters who deserve to be treated with dignity.

My request to access the facility was denied this morning, raising even more questions about what they are trying to hide from public view. I’ll keep fighting for answers and to hold ICE accountable.

Six groomers jailed for 50 years for horrendous abuse of a girl. They are not groomers they are child rapists and abusers, should be life for all of them but frankly even that is too kind. Mohammed Shehban, 42, received 14 years for two counts of rape. Amazar Ali, 54, was given 10 years for two counts of sexual activity with a child. Adal Manaf, 48, got eight years for rape. Imran Hussain, 50, received seven years for attempted rape. Naveed Anjum, 50, got five-and-a-half years for sexual activity with a child. That is a total of 49 years in prison. All six men will have to register as sex offenders for life, and will be subject to an indefinite restraining order. All six were found guilty on March 13 this year by a jury following a trial that heard how the victim was groomed, targeted, plied with drink, given drugs, and sometimes taken to remote locations across West Yorkshire to be abused. The offending took place in and around Halifax between 2006 and 2009 when the girl was between 13 and 15 years old and the men were aged between 22 and 37. In many of the incidents the victim was under the influence of alcohol or drugs given to her by her attackers. Jailing the group on Friday, at Bradford Crown Court, Her Honour Judge Sophie McKone said: “Each and every one of you groomed a vulnerable victim.” In a harrowing statement read to the court on her behalf, the men’s victim said their offending had been “a violation” that had left lifelong scars and caused her to experience bad dreams, severe anxiety and PTSD as well as feelings of shame, guilt, and self-blame. She said: “I’m trying to heal, but the harm done to me was deep.”
