… Where’s the outpouring of visualizations on roe v wade /reproductive rights I expected to find here ? This sh*t has me seriously disappointed in the data community right now #datafam#dataviz#tableaupublic
.@wfaaweather this is a screen shot I took from the Weather Channel App. this morning. What is that wavy symbol for? Are we going to be a lake or what?!
@Swedensky@LizCGil The time to speak your opinion is when we’re not there, and in male dominated spaces. Call out other men; if you notice men in your feed aren’t posting on the subject, post abt that. Propagate the message / amplify our voices by sharing our content rather than create your own
@LizCGil That's interesting. I'm a straight white guy who is staunchly pro-choice, and a woman friend told me to basically sit down and shut up about the abortion debate. It is so refreshing to see women welcoming support from men on this issue. Just know that you have our support!
@Swedensky@LizCGil I think I can break this down. Sit down + shut up means listen / learn; hear our voices, stories etc… learn about the history of our struggle, and the repercussions of going back. Sit down and shut up means we don’t want your opinion; if you support us, we know all we need to
LET ME SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE MEN in the data space — YALL ARE BEING REAL QUIET. If you’re not marching in the streets, you better be home weaving data stories abt this atrocity #dataviz#datafam#tableaupublic#Datavisualization
@ktkilroy Ty ☺️ Ofc it’s ppl with uteruss that are working on contributions… LET ME SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE MEN in the data space — YALL ARE BEING REAL QUIET. If you’re not marching in the streets, you better be home weaving data stories abt this atrocity #dataviz#datafam#tableaupublic

@TheScree Saying nothing, risks nothing. That is accurate, Which is why I am calling for the so-called #datafam to speak up. I want to know where people stand on whether or not I have a right to bodily autonomy
@TheScree If you think the data visualization community is solely professionally-based, you are sorely mistaken. The number of visualizations that poured out during Covid were insane, historically we have seen people who visualize data rise up and use their skills to spread awareness…
@DataRevelations@CesarPicco Is this really the biggest concern in your world right now ? ❤️ U but… one retweet ? I’m disappointed. IMO nobody should be talking abt anything but Scotus / the war on ppl with uteruses. The apathetic silence of the data community continues to be deafening.
@jburnmurdoch@DataRevelations 👏THANK YOU FOR STEPPING UP; save for a small minority of ppl like you the silence of the data community on this has been deafening
NEW: deep dive into the grim & highly unequal impacts of a US abortion ban ft.com/content/ebf64d…
We begin with a damning chart:
US women die from pregnancy-related causes at far higher rates than their peers, and black US women die at rates often seen in developing countries
@AlbertoCairo Thank you for posting, truly. I’ve only seen a handful of data peeps who’re openly taking a stance on this. Where’s the outpouring of data visualizations abt the repercussions ? We’ve seen a ton abt other politicized topics in the past… I started a list of ideas… DM for access
A friend asks an interesting question: Post-Roe, could Native Americans set up abortion clinics on tribal lands for anyone to use, much like they do with casinos, regardless of state law?
