To Those Who Compare Gaza to the Holocaust After years of suffering, starvation and disease in the ghettos, the Nazis offered desperate Jews a way out. They promised them jobs and a better future. They told them they were being relocated to labor camps where they could support their families. Believing they had finally found hope, the Jews boarded the trains. Those trains took them to extermination camps. Upon arrival, they were told they would first take a “disinfection shower” before entering the work camp. The gas chambers were disguised as shower rooms. Many only realized they had been deceived when the gas started flowing. That was systematic, industrialized murder built on the intent to exterminate an entire people. In Gaza, when Israel wants to target Hamas infrastructure, it evacuates entire neighborhoods in advance, even though this gives Hamas time to escape. Israel does this specifically to minimize civilian casualties. These two realities are fundamentally different. Comparing them dishonors the memory of the victims of the Holocaust.

@TrinityMustache For anyone wondering why we need this law: Without adult consent, minors can’t legally retain their own lawyers; independently file for divorce; or access domestic violence shelters—all of which makes it almost impossible for minors to escape an abusive or unwanted marriage.

@Lincoln_Cog I think the state governments in particular could save so much money by having a department of construction that deals with the rest of the state departments’ construction needs.

@TrinityMustache I’m just not as big of a fan of contracting in government as a whole - sometimes it makes sense, like you don’t need permanent staff to make a ramp so your building’s handicap accessible - but they try to make it so they are a long-term/permanent need, while grossly overcharging.

Third party contractors of all kinds are a parasite on the taxpayers’ teet. Republicans give contracts to their buddies’ corporations. Leftists give contracts or their buddies “nonprofits” that are actually quite profitable. Same shit.

The hijab must appear in every clip Mamdani shares, even though Muslims make up only about 10 percent of New York City’s population. Islam must be present in every speech. Mosques and Islamic centers must be visited every month. Arabic billboards, Arabic social media posts, and a Ramadan iftar eaten barefoot on the floor of Gracie Mansion. Every candidate he endorses must visit mosques and wear a hijab. Doing all of this while occasionally throwing a bone to the useful idiots by defending the “transgender community” or promoting "abortion" does not change the fact that he is a devout Muslim.

Josh Gottheimer is a Democratic capitalist. That’s where the majority of Americans are too. That’s why he’s won his competitive district over and over again.

We really need to have a conversation about the number of useless (fraudulent) nonprofits that we pay *millions* of dollars to actively harm our cities. Rip up the contracts and bring the capability in-house. If it’s not worth the effort then the problem wasn’t that important.
