Note that a 204 km apogee would, if optimised for range, produce an approximate range of 1,000 to 1,500 km if the rocket is flown on a ballistic trajectory. Moscow is less than 500 km from the Ukrainian border, but this would be a perfect range to hit the Alabuga drone factory in Tatarstan - 1,200 km from Kharkiv.

Just a reminder: in 1982, when Great Britain was attacked by Argentina, starting the Falklands War, the United States did not come to their aid because the Falklands are not in the North Atlantic and the British did not bitch about it.
In 1956, when the French and British attacked Egypt, causing the Suez Crisis, despite the fact that France and Great Britain are in NATO, the United States not only refused to assist, but went to the United Nations to condemn them for attacking Egypt.
In 2019, when Turkey decided to attack Syria, the Trump administration had the Pentagon send out an official notice that they did not support the campaign and would not send troops.
So kindly shut the fuck up, everyone in the White House.

@thinkdefence Prob right but it's not just crude ... LNG, fertiliser ingredients, aluminium etc. a ship is 20k+ containers, that's a lot of lorries in the short term. Building rail and more pipelines increases resilience but create more potential chokepoints to defend as well as increased cost

Whatever happens in the Gulf, think it is a reasonable prediction that gulf states will increasingly arm themselves, harden infrastructure, and where at all possible, diversify routes to bypass the Strait of Hormuz. I know the current prevailing view is that Iran has won strategically, but that might be only in the medium term. Thus, India and China become even more exposed to strait closure risk, not from Iran, but the Gulf States and USA. Route diversion may be eye wateringly expensive and not 100% feasible, but there is no way Iran will be allowed this much leverage over the global economy again.

I didn’t quite say that. My point was that as long as Iran was threatening to prevent ships passing through Hormuz without their approval, no Western navy would risk sending its warships to escort a convoy which was likely to come under Iranian fire.
