Imam Who Preyed On Little Girls During Quran Lessons Is Jailed In Cheltenham. A trusted volunteer imam at a mosque in the quiet town of Cheltenham has been exposed as a sexual predator who systematically abused two innocent young girls while giving them private religious lessons in their own homes. Shah Masukur Rashid, 45, a Bangladeshi man who presented himself as a pillar of the local Muslim community, was sentenced to six years behind bars at Gloucester Crown Court after being convicted of six counts of sexually assaulting children under the age of 13. The offences took place between October 2018 and January 2019 when Rashid, then 37, was invited into families homes as a respected Quran tutor. Instead of guiding the youngsters in their faith, he horrifically betrayed that trust by touching the two girls, aged just five to seven, both over and under their clothing. The crimes were exposed when the two young children were overheard by adults referring to Rashid as creepy. When questioned, the children revealed how Rashid had molested them during lessons. Prosecutors described how Rashid used his role as a volunteer imam and tutor to gain unsupervised access to the children in the very place they should have felt safest, their own homes. Elizabeth Rushton, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said: "He took advantage of the trust placed in him by his community. This conviction sends a clear message that those who abuse positions of trust will be brought to justice." Rashid was found guilty on all charges following a trial. The judge’s sentencing remarks highlighted the profound breach of trust involved. Despite the shocking nature of the crimes, the reaction within the community itself has been one of notable silence. There has been no widespread public condemnation, no strong statements from local mosques or faith leaders, and little visible outrage from the circles Rashid once led. Parents had placed their utmost faith in him, believing he was there to nurture their daughters spiritual education. Instead, he exploited their trust for his own sick gratification. One can only imagine the horror and heartbreak felt by those families when the awful truth emerged. This case serves as a stark reminder that evil can hide behind any cloak of respectability. The scars for these two little girls, whose childhood innocence was stolen, will last a lifetime. For families in close-knit Muslim communities, speaking out against a respected imam is incredibly difficult. Strong cultural pressures around family honour, fear of ostracism, and the deep stigma surrounding sexual abuse create powerful barriers. Many families face disbelief, blame, or intense pressure to stay silent in order to protect the community’s reputation, making disclosure much more difficult and isolating than other groups. This isn't an isolated incident. In May, another imam, Abdul Halim Khan, 54, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 20 years at Snaresbrook Crown Court after being convicted on 21 sexual offences, including nine counts of rape, against seven victims from the east London Muslim community. The offences took place between 2004 and 2015. Khan manipulated victims, including girls as young as 12, by falsely claiming he had supernatural powers and that sexual acts were part of spiritual healing or exorcism ritual. Judge Leslie Cuthbert condemned his deliberate distortion of his faith and monstrous abuse of trust. Despite the horrific nature of his crimes, Rashid will likely serve just half of his six-year sentence, around three years in prison before being released on licence under strict supervision. #UKNews #CrimeNews #Cheltenham

In the early hours of this morning, I directed our Armed Forces to intercept a shadow fleet oil tanker attempting to pass through the English Channel. This successful operation delivers yet another blow to Russia and reminds those fueling Putin's war in Ukraine that we will not let them hide. I want to thank those involved, including our Armed Forces and law enforcement officers who keep this country safe 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Man Utd taking another loan of £125 mill out . The debt just keeps racking up. Over a billion now, yet they can spend what they want. But the likes of ourselves and Villa aren’t in any debt and have to count our pennies. I’m sure financial fair play was to stop teams going bust.
