EU Foreign Ministers just gave the go-ahead to sanction Israeli settlers over violence against Palestinians. They also agreed new sanctions on leading Hamas figures. It was high time we move from deadlock to delivery. Extremisms and violence carry consequences.

🇸🇰 Minister J. Blanár: With deep sorrow and shock, I have received the news of the brutal shooting in Sydney, in the Bondi Beach area. I express my sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims. I wish a swift and full recovery to all those injured. #Slovakia strongly condemns any act of extremism and violence. In these difficult times, we stand in full solidarity with #Australia.

Already yesterday, I unequivocally condemned the brutal, deadly attack on innocent people during the Hanukkah celebrations at Australia’s Bondi Beach and expressed my deep solidarity with a nation plunged into grief and shock. Today, that grief has reached Slovakia as well — among the victims of this senseless, violent rampage was a Slovak woman, Marika. It is terrifying to see how far sick, faceless hatred toward strangers can go — hatred fueled simply by differences in faith, skin color, origin, or orientation. We must remember this every time we carelessly, without reflecting on the consequences, whether knowingly or unknowingly, contribute to the spread of hatred ourselves. Hatred ultimately recognizes no limits, and its final outcome is the destruction of innocent human lives. I extend my heartfelt and sincere condolences to Marika’s family and loved ones.

Dnešný Medzinárodný deň pamiatky obetí holokaustu je 80. výročím oslobodenia najväčšieho nacistického koncentračného a vyhladzovacieho tábora Auschwitz-Birkenau. Nezabúdajme na hodnoty, ktoré sú dodnes zakotvené v Ústave Slovenskej republiky – rešpekt k ľudským právam a rovnosť všetkých ľudí bez ohľadu na ich vierovyznanie, farbu pleti alebo iné názory. Let us uphold the values enshrined in the Constitution of the Slovak Republic - respect for human rights and equality for all people, regardless of their faith, skin color, or differing views. Senseless violence and hostility have no place in a democratic society. Minister J. Blanár: I welcome the news that a cease-fire agreement has been reached and the hostages should be release from the Gaza Strip. I appreciate the tremendous efforts of mediators from Egypt, Qatar and the USA. I am thinking of the hostages being held, who will soon be reunited with their families, as well as the suffering civilian population of the Gaza Strip, to whom much-needed humanitarian aid must reach urgently. I believe that the agreement will lead to a permanent end to the fightings, followed by a two-state political solution as a step towards a peaceful settlement in the whole Middle East. 🇸🇰 Minister J. Blanár: Vítam správy o dosiahnutí dohody o prímerí v Gaze a prepustení rukojemníkov. Oceňujem obrovské úsilie sprostredkovateľov z Egypta, Kataru a USA. Myslím na zadržiavaných rukojemníkov, ktorí sa čoskoro stretnú so svojimi rodinami, ako aj na trpiace civilné obyvateľstvo pásma Gazy, ku ktorému sa musí urýchlene dostať tak potrebná humanitárna pomoc. Verím, že dohoda povedie k trvalému ukončeniu bojov, po ktorom bude nasledovať politické dvojštátne riešenie ako krok k mierovému usporiadaniu na celom Blízkom východe.
