To all those who deny Christ ever existed even as a man, consider this: A great many opponents of early Christianity wrote about how Christ was a fraud. The pagans, Romans, Jews, etc. all said that he was a magician, a trickster, false prophet. But none said he didn't exist. Why?

@RX_9999_2 I think that the Chinese, as individuals, are generally good people, and usually they have the same feeling of suspicion and rivalry with Americans as we have for them. Really, we dislike each other's government but have no animus with the people. That is mutual respect.

@tagame I cannot speak for everyone, but I don't think I have noticed this before. There is some regional variety in America regarding what is considered to be proper manners, but I don't think we omit apology. We may apologize as well as explain, but apology should still happen.

@qwedsacxz30 @tagame I don't know why you guys have this impression. This is not true. We might not admit fault if we can tell someone just wants to humiliate us or is being malicious, but that is very uncommon. Manners matter here, we just don't always express ourselves the way Japanese do.

@tagame About the parking, yes I have experienced this when going to Mass! These buildings are often old and not meant to facilitate so many drivers. I hope someone can discuss this with the parish and explain the trouble so arrangements can be made, such as carpooling.

@tagame This is different to the way the Catholic Church and most Protestant churches have worked, which really tend to see national identity as a secondary (but meaningful) matter to a shared belief. My Catholic brothers in Japan are closer to me than my Hindu American neighbor.

@taroinagaki025 I think it matters what it is used to imply. Sometimes it is nice to have diversity, like cuisine or entertainment. When people are respectful and not antagonistic, different cultures can be interesting and fun to explore as well. But also burdensome when they misbehave.

I've spent enough time watching Israel demolish the homes of my Maronite friends in Lebanon, shoot at churches, demolish our icons, and ruin society. I'm not blind to what is happening. I think people assume that people are much more racially conscious than they really are, and in the end people are just rude assholes sometimes, I have had lots of bad experience too

@_mAKE_mE_mAD_ I certainly think that America did a lot of things wrong in the war, such as the atomic bombings which I regard as evil. I really enjoyed reading Takashi Nagai's account of the war and the bombing of Nagasaki, it was very emotional for me and filled me with deep sorrow and regret

@_mAKE_mE_mAD_ I understand why this was hurtful to you, but also consider the context of wartime when you were being disarmed. I do not think this was meant to cause cultural offense so much as prevent guerilla resistance during occupation. For us it was just part of war and wasn't personal.
