Here we see Rice pick up positions ahead of the City front 4, so that he can get on the ball, yet once again City were fine with that. They made sure they kept their line intact and prevented any pass between the lines. The result? Rice recycles, the GK goes with the chipped pass into the RB, and the half-half position of O’Reilly helped him jump up onto White, forcing him to get rid of the ball carelessly.

@aziztactics Peps plan was executed almost perfectly with almost no room for solutions They wanted Arsenal to go long so they increased the gap between the front and back of their defence to make the distance too long And while the ball was traveling they pounced x.com/FOBSVR/status/…

Exclusive 💣 Our trusted source in Manchester is informing us that Bruno Guimarães has agreed personal terms with Manchester United. Bruno Guimarães’s advisors are pushing Manchester United to reach an agreement with Newcastle United. Big news ⬆️

Random q for ppl who make bespoke stats has anyone done anything related to average success of an action preceded by a pass from a specific player? E.g. how successful is the next pass, dribble, shot of United player immediately after receiving the ball from Bruno vs their avg?

Logging off all my socials, re watch the game tomorrow and load them clips, that’s what we do✌️ My Player Ratings Kepa : White : 5 Saliba : 9 Gabriel : 6 Hincapie : 3 Zubimendi: 0 Rice : 5 Trossard : 0 Kai : -1 Saka : Gyo: 5 Cala : 7, Jesus : 6, Noni: 2 Nelli :0

You can't try to limit a team PSG, Bayern, City or Barcelona with this, they'd find solutions with quality. This is where I have problems with Rice (if people think he's as elite on the ball). He hasn't shown that level of control or tempo in his game. I don't think anyone saw Pep drawing up a 4-2-4 to limit Arsenal's progression but it's no secret that Saliba and Gabriel aren't elite on the ball. Arne Slot did something similar at the Emirates. He forced Arsenal to play through their center backs and man-marked Zubimendi. They didn't progress easily in that game. You need quality in this moment asides structure. Life without Ødegaard...

If you don't see the difference between a new manager bounce where results papered over cracks in performance (🔵) before it caught up to them versus a new manager who has immediately platformed his squad/team for sustainable success (🔴) then I don't know what to tell you.
