Hungary will gradually cut off gas supplies to Ukraine unless Kyiv immediately resumes the transit of Russian oil through the damaged Druzhba pipeline. In a video posted on Facebook, Orbán declared: “Supplies of gas from Hungary to Ukraine will be progressively halted, and whatever volume remains in Hungary will be stored here.” He added that the government will formally approve the measure at its next cabinet meeting. The Druzhba pipeline — which delivers Russian crude to Hungary and Slovakia — has been offline since late January after Russian strikes. Budapest insists the halt is political, not technical, and is now using gas flows as leverage to force the oil back on. While Ukraine and the EU blame Moscow’s attacks, Orbán is making it crystal clear: no Russian oil for Hungary means no Hungarian gas for Ukraine, no 90 billion loan for Ukraine and no new sanctions against Russia.
