I was under the impression these measurements have something to do with the amount of land that a single person with an ox could plow in a single day.
Which is why Jefferson settled on this measurement for his grid.
And that we'd all have ~60 acres per family 🤷♂️

Because the USA is denominated in miles. There are 640 acres in a square mile. 640 can be divided by 2 easily. A square half mile is 160 acres, a square 1/4 mile is 40 acres, a square 1/8 mile is 10 acres. Nobody in America knows what a kilometer is, let alone a hectare

Not coming from an agricultural background, some measurements don’t make intuitive sense to me. A Hectares are easy enough to come to terms with: 10,000 square meters. Easy. An acre?! I still can’t wrap my head around this…

Transferring to digital is rough for me.
I think it's because digital gives me a license to up the quality, whereas people tend to be okay with sketchy paper maps XD

idk, i think if social media has proved anything, it's that "fun" requires "engagement."
So, in modern times, it's probably a good practice to launch a small website to keep notes, character sheets, objectives, and maybe post updates?
Maybe small play by post? Anything to keep people engaged in the week between sessions, you know?

Players in Drakonheim actually know what fun is. Spending 30 minutes playing and then being on fire with excitement about it for a week.
Video games can't do this btw.

Although, to be honest, buying YouTube adspace isn't that expensive.
I think what we really need is to develop an ecosystem where we can monetize & advertise amongst outselves.
It's why I want to build a website, really.

@Fanfare_Int Good grieff, $1m on marketing being the breakpoint. Most indies can't spend more than $1k on marketing, a million - that's a huge budget.
This is why I think it's important to have this discussion, where are these boundaries, what makes an indie an indie?

At this point we should boil this down to:
"How much did you spend on marketing?"
<$1m = Indie
>$1m = not Indie
Clean. Simple. Gatekept.
Let's just completely disregard expenses, track records, and revenue. You can either afford marketing or you're Indie 🤷♂️
