@AVARY CGI is bad enough. Knowing you’re watching a greenscreen not a real location already makes films that do that terrible to watch.. But at least those still have real humans and real light and some minimum threshold of overall reality to ground them. An AI film has nothing.

Both Steven (with Full Frontal) and I (with The Rules of Attraction) were the first filmmakers to take Final Cut Pro, a consumer tool, into prime time usage on feature films. I only narrowly beat him to theaters because his system crashed and he lost all his work. That’s what it means to be on the bleeding edge of filmmaking. The guy is a mad scientist and it doesn’t surprise me at all that he’s at the forefront of the greatest democratizing filmmaking tool since consumer digital cinema. No one complained when he shot a movie on an iPhone. It astonishes me that anyone is in a kerfuffle about his experimentation with AI.
Variety@Variety

Steven Soderbergh says the backlash from his comments about AI in filmmaking is "mystifying to me": "There are some people that I have absolute love and respect for that refuse to engage with it. That's their privilege. But I'm not built that way. You show me a new tool. I want to get my hands on it and see what's going on." variety.com/2026/film/news…

Peter Greenaway's early filmography so weird & good 4 of my favs: Draughtsman's Contract (1982) Belly of an Architect (1987) Drowning by Numbers (1988) The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover (1989) he's an English David Lynch (or perhaps Wes Anderson)

Lo dijo Paul Thomas Anderson, que locura fue lo del Oscar a Mejor Película en la gala de 1976... Alguien Voló Sobre El Nido Del Cuco, Tiburón, Barry Lyndon, Tarde De Perros, Nashville. ¿Quién merecía llevárselo?

Look, I love One Battle After Another. I love Sinners. I admire Marty Supreme and the Secret Agent. None of those movies are as important or great as any 15 minutes of Barry Lyndon.

@NCseventeen Didn’t you know? Everybody on film twitter is a perfect person and expects everyone else to live up to their own lofty perfect person standard. Totally reasonable and not at all unhinged.

Finally watched "Sorcerer." It's definitely the best of the New Hollywood "flops" and it's Friedkin's best film. Better than even "The Exorcist" and "The French Connection"

@TheWrap Maestro already did the whole ending with a jump forward in time from the mid-century to the 1980’s with a Tears for Fears song playing, and that movie just came out a couple years ago.. The dynamic in that scene was a little bit vampiric as well.

A24 vetoed Josh Safdie’s original #MartySupreme finale, which would’ve jumped to a 1987 Tears for Fears concert where #KevinOLeary’s character bites #TimothéeChalamet and turns him into a vampire. “You’re on his eyes — we built the prosthetics for Timmy and everything — and Mr. Wonderful shows up behind him and takes a bite out of his neck,” Safdie said. “That was the last image of the movie.” Read more about the film's overruled ending: bit.ly/45b05bC 📸 Getty Images/Jose Perez/Bauer-Griffin/GC Images

@americanreqiuem People act like Ruth Gordon didn’t win supporting for Rosemary’s Baby for the same type of performance in the same type of movie at the same stage in her career. There’s direct precedent for the Madigan win.

Usyk will go down in history as one of the greatest boxers to ever do it… so imagine the fear I had having to go in and show him how to do the ground and pound specifically for camera... I was like “how the hell do I tell the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world this?!?!” 🤣🤣🤣. He is the most humble and incredible guy and he gives a great performance. He wanted to do right by Igor Vovchanchyn! @usykaa you are amazing!! Shout out to @sugarrayleonard and the late great @realmarvinhagler for giving us one of the greatest fights in history!! GO SEE THE SMASHING MACHINE in theaters!!!

not only was it in fact a mustang but a clever detail is that when the character is introduced he is driving a vintage mustang and then later on he is driving a modern mustang in the same color, implying that he has a different blue mustang for every occasion
