@Merivartiosto'n johtokeskus vastaanotti tiedon @ElisaOyj tietoliikennekaapelin vaurioitumisesta Suomenlahdella. VL Turva tavoitti aluksen ja totesi aluksen ankkuriketjun olevan vedessä. Suomen viranomaiset ovat ottaneet aluksen haltuun yhteisoperaationa.

Suomen viranomaiset toimivat. Helsingin ja Tallinnan välillä tapahtuneen kaapelivaurion aikaan alueella liikkunut alus on ohjattu Suomen vesille. Hallitus seuraa tilannetta tiiviisti.

Finnish authorities have inspected a vessel suspected of causing cable damage in the Gulf of Finland. Thank you for efficient work and communication @rajavartijat, @SuomenPoliisi, @Puolustusvoimat, @TraficomFinland, @SuomenTulli, @Tukesinfo and @fingrid_oyj. We are monitoring the situation in close cooperation with the government. Finland is prepared for security challenges of various kinds, and we respond to them as necessary.

Late last night I had a call with my European colleagues @jnbarrot , @kajakallas, @YvetteCooperMP, @sikorskiradek, @andrii_sybiha and political directors from Germany and Italy. We welcome all efforts towards ending Russia's war of aggression and achieving a just and lasting peace. Only the Ukrainians themselves can ultimately decide what conditions they consider fair. Peace terms that cater solely to the concerns of Russia, the initiator of an illegal war of aggression, are neither just nor a foundation for lasting peace. European countries make their own decisions on all matters concerning European countries individually or collectively. We will continue supporting Ukraine and putting pressure on Russia to end its war, to agree to a ceasefire and start negotiating a just and lasting peace.

Today is the Remembrance Day for the Victims of Political Repression in Russia. 🇫🇮 joins in commemorating the millions who suffered in Soviet-era repression. In 2025 the Kremlin seeks to rewrite history & crushes dissent. We call for the release of all political prisoners in 🇷🇺.

President of Finland @AlexStubb received credentials from the new Ambassador of Estonia, Janne Jõesaar-Ruusalu.

The flagrant violation of Estonian airspace is an irresponsible act by Russia. We stand with our neighbor and ally Estonia. NATO and the allies responded quickly and decisively. This should be seen in the context of Russia's recent actions, not as an isolated incident. In the Article 4 consultations requested by Estonia we will establish a joint situational awareness and discuss the way forward. The Eastern Sentry already launched is part of our response. Pressure on Russia's warfighting capabilities is also being increased by the EU's robust 19th sanctions package.

The violation of Estonian airspace by three Russian fighter jets is both dangerous and reckless. We remain united and committed to our objective to weaken Russia, support Ukraine and strengthen European deterrence and defence. Estonia can count on our support.

The incursion of Russian drones in Polish airspace underlines the gravity of the security situation and it is unacceptable. It is a direct consequence of Russia’s illegal war of aggression in Ukraine and its increased strikes by unmanned systems in the last months. Russia carries responsibility for this. We will discuss the situation with our Polish friends and with all allies and partners. Poland has our support. Instead of peace, Russia seeks escalation. We have to keep supporting Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia and its war economy.
