Regarding my recent post about Gad Saad engaging in Holocaust minimization, I want to clarify that Saad made the following statement about Dr Gabor Maté: "He [Maté] certainly was not a Holocaust survivor. To be a survivor you have to be cognizant and conscious of what happened". Consider the absurdity of this statement - and therefore of its author - in any other context: Are infants who emerge alive from fires, shipwrecks, bombings, shootings, or massacres also not survivors of these events because they were neither "cognizant" nor "conscious" of "what happened"? For Saad and his preposterous statement to make any sense, should it not equally apply to adults suffering from Alzheimers or dementia, and comatose patients rescued from hospital fires and bombings? In other words, is Saad making it up as he goes along, engaging in Holocaust trivialization and smearing a Holocaust survivor in order to belittle Maté's outspoken criticism of Israel, or is it not Saad but rather the US Holocaust Museum that is engaging in absurd propaganda when it features individuals with profiles indistinguishable from Maté's as Holocaust survivors? Is Angela Orosz-Richt, born in Auschwitz in December 1944, and liberated by Soviet forces before she uttered her first word, also falsely posing as a Holocuast survivor? Having some love you for being a dick and others hate you for it seems like a good translation of modern morality. A more complex interpretation than twenty years ago allowed is good.

@lastchalice Main issue for me is removing the good and evil mechanic, the game was set in a world of truly good acts and truley evil acts, now its all sujective, shows a lack of understanding in the writers that they cant create a moral fable.

Over the course of the original Fable there was: - Gay marriage - Crossdressing - Two black main characters Add Fable II and: - A overweight female main character - Commentary on poverty This doesn’t even get into what Fable III and further spin-offs added. I don’t subscribe to the term woke or what it is supposed to mean, but seeing how it’s used on this platform, why is the new Fable “woke” but the others are not? This is a genuine question for my personal education.

Ditto games (even ones like Gears of War or Pokemon). A badly written/produced piece of media is its own enemy - not 'having a message'.

@frombwtocolor Specials are a worst case scenario: they're the ones most dependent on each episode having marketable hook. Imo it'll die a death too: no long running show existed with one or two specials every year or two. I'm not sure it's what folks want from either sci-fi *or* family drama.

The whole problem here is that Nolan has taken liberties with the time period - from armour to long ships - only for those liberties to be dull, dark, and lifeless. It's neither different enough, nor accurate enough, to satisfy either audience.

@nemxfoenirevlow @isaacfeldberg I could even get behind 'it's fiction' if it didn't have the same colour palette as Dunkirk, or Zodiac, or any number of films aiming for 'realism' and the costuming wasn't dark and moody (tm). Fantasy costuming in this period should be visually stunning.
