Hey everyone. I wanted to introduce myself & say hi to those I’ve known for years. I’m Bryan, I used to do a podcast/twitter called Sacred Icon for half a decade with a friend of mine. Last Chalice is just me, hoping to bring that passion back again. Its good to see you🤘🏻

@eopdev I will say, back before release many (including myself) believed it was going to be a knockout generational game. It was not that. Not generational, not a knockout, actually quite flawed and also confusing coming off of Elder Scrolls and Fallout. But man, it was still great.

@lastchalice I'm still not sure what exactly Starfield didn't delivery. Maybe people created greater expectations than they should.

Video game critic scores are rarely wrong. Nine out of ten times the score is within 10 points of where I’d place it on a 100 point scale. It’s popular to say “I don’t trust critic scores” but I find them more often than not intelligent, experienced & most importantly valuable.

@Deadframex It’s an aggregate of potentially hundreds of professionals offering their personal opinions. It would be a little ridiculous to expect it to always be more narrowed in than that.

@lastchalice Aaaaaaaand your opinion is worthless. :3 Popular to hate it or not, the objective quality of the game is terrible. You can love it all you want, but just like with the awful Disney Star Wars movies, they have an objective quality that lacks even basic levels of competency.

@lastchalice People replying don't understand what you're saying. They're just taking singular reviews instead of looking at the aggregate score lol.

@StormPath1989 It was an 8 for me, a real good time. With my critical cap on I’d land on a 7. Veilguard is the target of memes and hate, but it was a good product top to bottom. I won’t hesitate to say that just because it’s unpopular to do so.

@The_Right_Ryder As much as I’d love to have my opinions on games mean something, I’m a high school graduate who stocks shelves. I respect the professionals who put in the work and find their opinions valuable.

@wiseASDF Every game you listed already possesses a metacritic score within 10 points of your suggestions. Seems like a lot to be up in arms about.

@lastchalice Video game critics are rarely right. Lies of P and stellar blade deserve at least an 88 and resident evil requiem should be an 80, at best. It is a good game but it is very short with stupid "puzzles" and the "do these three things to progress" mechanic was used so many timed.

@wiseASDF @StendHal843 I think the metacritic score for every game you listed is pretty on point. I also wouldn’t call 80 “low balling” for things like Stellar Blade (which I love) it’s pretty fitting.

@StendHal843 @lastchalice And amazing games like Lies of P, stellar blade and wukong were low balled by rebiewrs. And garbage like dragon dogma 2, starfield and dragon age the veilguard received such a high score that it makes it seem that they were paid.

@lastchalice Folks are gonna call you a shill for this, but there's truth So many of the best games ever are highly reviewed by critics. E33, Elden Ring, FFVII, Red Dead 2... Just how it goes. And on top of that, if critics are sooo badly wrong, why do we care about 'em? Hmm? 🤨

@anti_funcadet This is a perfect example of “9 out of 10 times.” I really respect Ryan McCaffrey and his opinions, but this score for Alien Isolation and his 9.8 for Halo 4 were wildly off.

@loch324 @armandillo45 Thanks for the backup but I legitimately thought Veilguard was good. Though this is high. Prolly a more fair score is in the 70’s IMO.

@armandillo45 @lastchalice He literally gave leeway in his original post for examples like what you just listed. There are going to be the occasional misfires but in the majority of cases they tend to be correct.

@CodyAlanAllred I have zero experience or knowledge of Dustborn. I enjoyed Veilguard and would give it an 8, Concord was a solid 7 it just failed catastrophically. I’d give Highguard a 6. Checks out to me.
