@johnson_na1708 As long as you don't have to talk to customer service and the interwebz works properly you'll be fine. The moment you experience either, you learn this exact concept.

Where do degree holders (BS, MS, PhD, etc) usually have an edge in cybersecurity compared to people without one? And where do non degree folks tend to outperform the degree crowd?

⚠️ Windows RDP Vulnerabilities Allow Attacker to Expose Sensitive Data Source: cybersecuritynews.com/windows-remote… Windows systems are impacted by two new Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) information disclosure vulnerabilities, CVE-2026-42908 and CVE-2026-45639. Both issues were resolved in Microsoft’s security updates released on June 9, 2026. Both flaws stem from out-of-bounds reads in the RDP stack and are rated Important, with a CVSS v3 base score of 7.5. Microsoft describes CVE-2026-42908 and CVE-2026-45639 as information disclosure vulnerabilities in Windows Remote Desktop Protocol caused by an out-of-bounds read condition. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit these bugs remotely over the network without any user interaction. #cybersecuritynews

‼️ Google is about to disable all adblocker extensions in Chrome. Instead of letting the adblocker inspect traffic itself, extensions now have to hand Google's browser a limited list of filtering rules and hope for the best. This leads to weaker blocking and more ads getting through. Google makes the vast majority of its money selling ads. The company that profits from every ad you see also controls the browser most people use, with Chrome 149 being the last version supporting adblockers. For example, under the new rules, uBlock Origin cannot exist. For millions of people, that extension is the only thing standing between them and a wall of ads, trackers, and autoplay garbage. One user put it bluntly: "The web is literally unusable without uBlock Origin."

The answer is not another tool. The answer is most likely a broken cybersecurity/engineering process. Fix that first.

Breaking into cybersecurity is about skill transfer, not titles. You may already understand: → Systems → Users → Networks → Code → Risk or documentation Cyber roles simply apply those skills to security problems. Transition ≠ restart. Transition = reframing.

I actually can't knock them for this. And you don't need a college degree and unfathomable debt to make it in the tech industry. College is nothing but an older high school that you have to pay for. It isn't about your career until the last 1-2 years after they stacked the debt high enough before you realize the wasted time getting there. And I say this as a GenX.

You can raise millions and fail. You can raise almost nothing and win. Investors are not validation. They don't know whether your idea will work. Fundraising is not traction. The market decides. Not investors. Don't confuse it with progress.
