Bonner Springs storms back to defeat Kapaun 53-50 to capture the 5A State Championship. The game featured nine lead changes, and Bonner Springs led for just 5:50 of the contest. The Braves trailed by five entering the fourth quarter but closed strong, outscoring Kapaun 19-10 and shooting 78% in the final frame to secure the win. Head coach Drew Gruver, in just his second season at Bonner Springs, has done a fantastic job leading the Braves to a 27-1 record. The title marks Bonner Springs’ first boys basketball state championship since 1984. Kelan Gruver led all scorers with 21 points, while Nathanael Ferrell added 12 in the championship victory. #sportsinkansas

I rmbr the long lines of people waiting outside for the doors to open. As an AD I understand how much work goes into hosting post season games... Hope it continues.

I prefer neutral site Semis & Finals. However this is not up to the sections anymore. Most HS & certainly colleges don’t want to host. They don’t get any revenue & take a lot of risk 🤷🏽‍♂️
