Ranschau sets the state tournament record (all classes) for made three pointers in a state tournament game (9). 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐒 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐃 🏆 The Character Counts Coach of the Year honors a worthy recipient who embodies the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring & Citizenship. The 2026 recipient is Mount Vernon Coach Robin Brand. Robin has taught and coached softball in the Mount Vernon district for 16 years. Robin had also coached volleyball, track and field, basketball, and swimming at the high school level. Accepting her award is her family. 𝐉𝐀𝐂𝐊 𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐇 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐊𝐄𝐓𝐁𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐃 🏆 Libby Fandel of Cedar Rapids Xavier High School is the 2026 recipient of the Jack North Award. Libby finished her career with a school-record, 1,995 points and was a two-time Class 4A state champion. She set an Iowa Class 4A postseason scoring record with 94 points. Libby was also the Gatorade Iowa State Player of the Year and named Miss Iowa Basketball. A four-time all-state first-team selection in basketball, she was also a standout volleyball player. Libby is currently a freshman at the University of Kansas and is playing for the Jayhawks women’s basketball team.
