Some are saying we should go only by official announcements. That's logical. Look at it this way. Had government sold $12 billion worth of gold, do you expect an official press release? It might not have become public knowledge at all. Today's press release came because Bloomberg published an information which was factually incorrect.

The only time I have 'met' Rahul Gandhi was when we were accidentally placed in close proximity at a small social gathering. He didn't know who I was, and I pretended not to know who he was. This was at the peak of his popularity, within a year of the 2009 win. I took the opportunity to criticise the government loudly to others in the room. He quietly, and stoically, bore my ineffectual stings.

What price has public paid? Petrol in Jan 2014 during UPA tenure was as high as ₹72 which in today’s value is over ₹125 So stop misleading people by expecting retail fuel price to remain constant even after 12 years

Vivek, crude $108 both times but rupee 60→95 = 60% costlier imports. UPA hid costs via massive subsidies & oil bonds. Modi deregulated: no subsidies now, transparent pricing + taxes for infra. After reading @surjitbhalla ji’s article, I mapped India’s GDP growth across political regimes. And I agree with him when he says- 👉BJP is winning politics decisively, but not economics at the same scale. From 1999–2014, coalition governments took India’s GDP from about $459 billion to over $2 trillion. From 2014–2026, despite a far stronger political mandate, GDP growth in USD terms appears slower comparatively. This is not politics. This is economics. Our first priority as a nation is politics and not economics- we do not focus on economics 🙏 History shows: Strong governments do not automatically create strong economic outcomes. Sometimes politically “weak” coalition eras delivered stronger economic expansion than politically dominant eras. In the end, elections are won by narratives.
