The Victorians most adversely affected by high fuel prices don’t have access to public transport. Now their taxes will be subsidising tens of millions in free fares for those who do have the option of public transport. #springst

@bouta_nt It isn’t about price. More about conservation for those who need it. Been doing this way before it was cool. Corolla hybrid driver (don’t drive Uber / Eats)

If Australia declares a fuel emergency, here’s who gets unlimited fuel: ✅ Police ✅ Ambulance ✅ Fire trucks ✅ Prisons ✅ Buses ✅ Taxis Everyone else gets $40 per visit: ❌ Doctors driving to hospital ❌ Nurses ❌ Farmers ❌ Truck drivers delivering your food ❌ You $40 at current prices is about 15 litres. Roughly 200km. This law has existed since 1984 and never invoked.

Sensible people don’t hoard fuel. Rural people have no choice but consume fuel to get anywhere start to have their security threatened with fear of no fuel. Rocking up to a servo 80 k from home finding out there is no fuel is bloody confronting. How get home to kids, medicine etc

China has cut Australia off for Jet A1 fuel (kerosene), all of next months shipments cancelled. Normally 12/month. There’s one ship inbound. That’s it. China is Australia’s largest Jet Fuel supplier.

Remember I said when the war started this would lead to lockdowns? Everyone laughed This is Thailand right now. A fuel and food crisis can quickly spiral, we’ve seen it unravel before During WW2 hungry people went from house to house in country Victoria offering to do chores in exchange for food. My grandparents would help them as much as they could but Australia had serious shortages Milk was often unavailable and meat and eggs were rationed. Weekly coupons only allowed: Butter: 226 grams Sugar: 500 grams Meat: 1kg Tea: 225g every 5 weeks Labor should have been acting three weeks ago, instead they gaslit us
Jim Ferguson@JimFergusonUK

🚨 PANIC BUYING IS SPREADING ACROSS ASIA Now Thailand. Fuel stations being overwhelmed as people rush to fill up. This isn’t isolated anymore. We’re now seeing: • Supply pressure • Public reaction • Rapid escalation across multiple countries Once panic sets in… it moves fast. And when fuel is the target — everything follows. Watch this closely.

Australia spent approximately $680 billion on social security and welfare over the past five years. I propose that we instead spend $600 billion to build 30 publicly owned nuclear reactors - capital costs should be fully socialised by the government in the manner of Gaullist France’s nuclear program. This way you would cut the wholesale energy retail price by 60-70%, completely revitalising the manufacturing sector. Right now manufacturing is at a record low share of our GDP (5% - 130 billion). Partial re-industrialisation back toward 10–12% of GDP from 5% would add $130–180 billion in annual economic output. Manufacturing has one of the highest economic multipliers of any sector, typically 1.5–2x, because factories buy inputs, employ workers who spend locally, and create supply chains. A reasonable multiplier puts the total economic impact closer to $270–360 billion in annual GDP uplift. This creates an additional 100 billion in tax revenue each year. So it would pay for itself in under 10 years. To do this you need to create a sovereign nuclear authority with its own balance sheet, borrowing capacity, and statutory insulation from political interference. France did this with their EDF, making it structurally independent from annual budget cycles. It actually works

If the war continues and it turns into the huge crisis some experts are projecting, Australia is going to see a dramatic surge in asylum applications as temporary visa holders look to avoid going home. And that is to say nothing of people arriving on tourist visas and not going home. Its time to get tough now and prepare the groundwork to deport people in large numbers, starting with the 50k+ on the list already slated to be removed and exhausted their avenues of appeal.

@ausstockchick You know what is going to happen? Everyone going to be in $3m houses with not enough super to live off in retirement. THEN the government brings in tax on PPOR, inheritance tax, land tax (so they get tax regardless of turnover) Seems like direction. I work in tax consulting.

People without assets are getting wiped out. Look at the calculation below. This guy bought a property in Adelaide for $1.5m recently. 6 years ago that same property was $750,000! So prices have doubled. The cash required to get in is up $200k. And the mortgage repayment is over 300% more… If you own assets, you ride the wave. If you don't, you're getting absolutely wiped out. #ausbiz #auspol
