@sendejasr One of the many things I love about Doug is that he's never afraid to don Vikings gold. That color really pops -- which is why I save my gold polo for when I call really big games, like that battle against Wheaton in the CCIW tourney a few weeks ago.

@BQuillmanQcast @NPU_MBB Doug is the man! He's been a zealous Vikings fan since he was the sports editor of North Park's student newspaper in the mid-'60s. A bit after that pic was taken, one of NPU's ringbearers, Lars Anderson (center on the 1985 Vikings nat'l champs), came in and sat with Doug.

@umasscis @LogHanRatings Looks like you have a bit of learning to do about D3, @umasscis. There are 81 public schools in D3 out of a total membership of about 430 to 440 institutions; 30 of those 81 public schools have football programs.

@LogHanRatings I mean, there's more than 27 other high schools besides those three in the Windy City, but at least 27 other high schools academically strong enough to produce that many D3 SAs? Doesn't seem like it to me.

@LogHanRatings Very weird, then, that only 3 Chicago high schools rank in the top 27 of the IL schools that contribute the most D3 SAs. It doesn't seem to me that there's at least 27 other Chi highs that can account for the 210-220 SAs that didn't attend Marist, St. Laurence, or Mt. Carmel.

There were around 11,000 to 12,000 high schools whose alumni were on a #d3fb roster in 2025. Around half of those only had one alumnus on a roster. These are the high schools that produced the most #d3fb talent in 2025 (public schools in italics).

@LogHanRatings If Wheaton Academy ever turns out a student-athlete who chooses a CCIW school other than Wheaton, I'll faint. It's like WC has a farm team. Thanks again for the list, Logan!

@LogHanRatings Pleased to see that 2 of the top 10 are Chicago schools (although, naturally, they're Catholic schools rather than public). Three Chicago schools, two Rockford area schools, one downstate school (Glenwood), and everything else is in the Chicago suburbs,

@BQuillmanQcast And Lori Kerans can't push a contract across her desk to a new hire that requires him to commit for, say, a guaranteed ten years, with a substantial financial penalty if he bolts early. No AD in D3 has that kind of juice.

@BQuillmanQcast Yeah, but, realistically, that's kind of an empty piece of advice when you think about it. You can ask a candidate if he'll stay long-term, but who knows how truthfully the candidate will answer -- or if it's even possible to do so, since no one knows what the future holds.

In my opinion, if Millikin is going to build a winner (like back in the day), they need to hire someone who is committed to staying. They need someone who views this as their dream job...not a stepping stone. Millikin needs a John Baines, Ron Rose, Mike Schauer kinda hire. I realize that is hard to come by nowadays. But I am confident that person is out there. The right person, with the right commitment, can build a CCIW title contender at Millikin.
