What's ironic is Eswatini, an absolute monarchy, welcomes @ChingteLai while Germany & Czech Republic, 2 full democracies, reportedly rejected Lai's transit. I hate being cynical, but if these democracies that are chanting value-based order made their choice, we make ours too.

When I studied in the U.S., a professor asked me (jokingly) why Taiwan made friend with Nicaragua's Daniel Ortega, a dictator. I can't remember my exact response, but it was like another question asking "why those democracies don't make friend with Taiwan, a fellow democracy?"

He dedicated his life for ROC Taiwan…. This is true ROC Taiwan 🇹🇼 patriotism 😉

I am sorry it was a struggle for you to follow the original point made. In sum, a foreign opposition party leader proposes to meet with the President of the United States. Having working in the White House, I assess that proposition offers no value-add to US national interests under current circumstances. You decided to appeal to race, suggesting only ethically Chinese opinions count. Then peacefully enjoy life seeking only ethnically Chinese meetings. FWIW, it is cool that your family receives cards from Taiwan presidents. I lived in Taiwan and returned to visit often for coming up on 40 years. Have been blessed to know and visit with every elected president of Taiwan. But my post was not a credential check. Just noting the request to meet POTUS was ill-advised, based on experience.
