@Billynomates8 @Feargal_Sharkey The UK now has the highest quality drinking water in the world at one of the lowest cost. Nationalised water was responsible for the UKs largest ever mass poisoning, sewage was routinely discharged untreated without any monitoring,& there was inadequate investment. Let TW go bust

Only if it comes free . You are old enough aren't you to remember how nationalised companies operated, some like gas worked well some like water worked reasonably well. Some like electricity and steel and coal were the pits , your stance on water needs scrutiny because it won't be cheap.

The Left in the European Parliament
The era of resistance begins. Today, the far right, with the help of the conservatives and liberals, pushed through the Deportation Regulation in the European Parliament. This is a shame for Europe. They are ushering in a period of fear, exclusion, raids and deportation.

🚨 🚩 This is a really important paper. Key finding: Brexit has cost the UK economy 7–8% of GVA by 2023 and the pain hasn’t been evenly shared. London took the biggest single hit (12% below counterfactual), largely bc financial and professional services lost Single Market access. Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 was also very hard hit. Meanwhile, areas that voted most heavily for Leave have not suffered the largest economic costs. The correlation is actually weakly negative As the authors put it: “Brexit was a levelling up by levelling down.” Northern Ireland is the clear outlier, the one part of the UK that kept close alignment with the EU Single Market has done far better.

Fascinating that Starmer is widely regarded as doomed when so many key metrics are going his way: channel crossings, migration more generally, NHS waiting lists, and today’s inflation numbers

Labour’s plan to cut illegal immigration is working. Arrests linked to immigration crime are up by 55%, and we’ve removed over 70,000 people with no right to be here.

Too many small business owners do everything right but are still left lying awake at night wondering how they’ll pay their staff or cover their bills because of the challenges they are facing. This Government is standing up for small businesses through measures like the Small Business Protections Bill, restoring fairness, dignity and security for small business owners and the self-employed. #PMQs

Instead of demanding price caps to protect workers, the Government has hit their take home pay with stealth taxes. Labour: Drop the stealth taxes, tackle the profiteers and convince workers it has a way out of crisis. 2/2

My message to Andy Burnham or whoever becomes the next Prime Minister is simple. Labour must ditch their red lines on Europe that are holding our country back.

@AllisonCGardner No. It will just result in high cost, low quality ,inefficient services. You seem to think that profits are a bad thing yet they pay for all public services and welfare.

Inflation fell at the start of the conflict in Iran in the UK because this govt took £150 off energy bills. It remained flat in May, but is rising elsewhere. We've frozen fuel duty, cut duty on red diesel (used by farmers) by a third, and scrapped VED for HGVs. From next week, we are slashing VAT on family activities and kids meals to help families in the summer holidays. This govt is focused on doing all we can to provide economic stability and to support family budgets.
Rachel Reeves@RachelReevesMP

While the war in the Middle East pushes up prices up globally, we have got the right economic plan and inflation has held steady. We’re protecting families and businesses, with cuts in energy bills and freezes in fuel duty. Labour is building a stronger, more secure Britain.

Brexit is costing us £90bn a year. That’s why we are calling for a bold new deal with Europe to boost growth, create jobs and keep our country safe. It’s the first step towards giving our children a better future, fixing the cost of living and getting our country back on track.
