Almost five years ago, together we began to change our Union. We took our Union 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 - back to our reps and members. We uncovered the truth around the wrongdoing and alleged fraud surrounding the Birmingham hotel and conference centre. And we have redefined our relationship with Labour. 𝐍𝐨 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬. And together we have delivered hundreds of millions of pounds back into the pockets of members from successful disputes alone. Profiteers exposed. Cash to politicians cut. Winter fuel campaign won. While its workers are struggling with the city’s sky-high living costs, Cambridge University sits on an ever-growing mountain of wealth worth billions of pounds that it refuses to share. Oxford University already has a local pay supplement; now Cambridge University must do the same. It was a privilege to be on the picket line last week. We will keep fighting until we have a fair deal for the university’s workers.

We should not be making decisions that confine working-class communities to wastelands and leave us vulnerable on energy security.

Labour needs policies and a programme of real change, not just a personality makeover. I will ensure Unite reps and members get a vote on whether they want us to stay affiliated to Labour. That work is now beginning and I will inform our Rules Conference in 2027.

I will work with our new Executive to fund a new era of industrial co-ordination and establish Combines across our sectors. Bringing Reps together from workplaces across our nations to build strength. 2/2

We need to build power if we are to face the challenges to come - if we are to protect our members jobs, pay and conditions. From AI, decarbonisation, to attacks on pay and Reps, we need to be better prepared than ever at the workplace. 1/2

The closure of Grangemouth was an act of industrial vandalism, pure and simple. A proposal presented to the UK Government to transition the site to produce Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) which would have helped hit environmental targets and transform the refinery, but not only have they ignored a golden opportunity to make our own green air fuel but we lost the production of ordinary air fuel that was being made by Grangemouth and by Lindsay in England. dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/… @GrangemouthJobs

Our Reps are the cornerstone of the Union. Without them Unite would not exist. When I was elected I promised to deliver more and better resources to our frontline negotiators. I have kept that promise. 1/2

When I was elected I promised to take our Union back to the workplace. Back to its members. No more blank cheques for Labour. The jobs, pay and conditions of our members will always be my first priority. I’m standing for re-election so that we can finish what we started, continue the change to be a union that fights for workers’.

The government investment is something that Unite has been lobbying for, and it is good news for chemical workers. Our chemicals industry provides thousands of well-paid, skilled jobs, and it must be properly supported. It is now essential that this financial support is not just promised but delivered quickly, and companies receiving government money must commit to binding jobs. The government must also take urgent action to reform the packaging regulations, which are in danger of causing needless damage to the UK glass industry, threatening large numbers of jobs.

When members are in struggle, they now get Unite's total support, no matter what it takes to win. Resource focused on the frontline. We are once again a strong fighting union. Led by our members in our workplaces. That's why I am supporting Sharon Graham. 2/2

Our thoughts go out to Sergei Krajev’s family. A father, husband and grandfather, who went out to work and did not come home. @TfL needs to take immediate action to ensure the safety of all bus workers. No bus worker should be subjected to violence whilst carrying out their duties. TFL and the bus companies must now swiftly introduce training for drivers on how to respond and deal with violent confrontations.

Workers and communities are still suffering from paying the price for crisis after crisis. We are now braced for more price rises in the coming months. @GOVUK cannot keep crossing its fingers behind its back and urgently needs to change direction to ensure it backs everyday people. morningstaronline.co.uk/article/unions…
