Congratulations to Dr Annalise Zouein for successfully defending her PhD today on DNA and RNA based control of mammalian gene expression. Anna was supervised by the brilliant @ceronifranci and was one of Imperial’s first @BioDesignEngCDT students. Very proud of her!

Some exciting news - we're looking for a postdoc with experience in experimental chemistry/molecular biology/DNA nanotechnology to work on novel mechanisms for molecular templating in synthetic systems. We are looking to emulate the most important class of process in nature.

My main takeaway though is that she became a Tory, despite a grim early life in Liverpool, because Thatcher gave her family the right to buy their council flat. What would be the equivalent rationale for a young, upwardly mobile woman now? I can't think of anything.
