@walkeri141 The county Dem party fundraiser dinner named for John Race is important as a cultural touchstone. John was elected to CD6 for one term in 1964 and the shining star of hope that one day a Dem may return to Congress. That thin a margin in an April election is absurd.

Fond du Lac County is the birthplace of the modern GOP, in Ripon. It has no Democratic history, no ancestral vote etc. It has no major blue pockets. It's voted Dem 4 times since 1900 in Presidential Elections. It went Trump +29 in 2024. It's only Lazar +7 tonight.

Since 2016, there have been 4 cases of non-citizens voting in Wisconsin out of 25,237,189 ballots cast (13 elections / excluding any special elections). Or 0.000000158496 of ballots cast.
Carly Wilson@CarlyDanger

It’s not a “mixed picture”. If you go into the crosstabs, 8/10 WI Republicans say noncitizens are voting. 9/10 Dems say that’s not happening. Those aren’t just different opinions, they’re different realities. 4 cases of non citizen voting have been found since 2016.

@FlipperiPerri @DiscourseMKE @taste_of_tbone When your lack of clarity makes conversation make no sense, yeah, I’d say details are important? Also, helps root out bots who speak in platitudes and generalities ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (FWIW, Washington Park would be considered the west side or adjacent to the “Near West Side.”)

@WiscoGrant Motorcycle leather and riding accessories on the south wall, pool tables on the north side, scale for weighing feet out back. Good pizza and beer selection for Richford.

@WiscoGrant That Spectrum cable box or U-Verse has served them well & that's what they use. Literally, they're my parents who are in their 60's & 70's. Or people like me who lament being able to have multiple TVs across the house with the same damned thing on. TV access peaked in 2003.

@WiscoGrant Most of the folks you're talking about don't do smart TVs. It's also the vast wide swatch of fans who are casual fans who want to browse and click into a game every once in a while.

@GhaleonQ The Packers also have a deficiency at quarterback once the next Jordan Love contract is negotiated...

@GhaleonQ Uhh, no, we don't. If we had a structural deficit we would be doing a budget repair bill. We have a budgetary projection that says should nothing change between right now and the next budgetary cycle, by the end of the next cycle we would have a deficit.

For the record... starting at 2020 and deciding that ratio of student/staff was correct is completely arbitrary. We can debate all day long number of administrators, or teacher/para to student ratio, but just because there is a larger gap now means very little w/o context.
Quinton Klabon@GhaleonQ

@jessieopie @MollyBeck That said, until the blue line starts going down to match the green line instead of up, this will be a central policy and dinner-table topic. nces.ed.gov/ccd/elsi/table…

@GhaleonQ And yes, I would agree I hope there is an achievement level increase as well. Just because something is happening doesn't mean it's good or bad, but it's pretty hard to compare any of these things without looking back at least 20 years considering how funding has shifted etc.

@GhaleonQ The legislature deciding to not put more aids to schools is 100% their policy choice. They don't have to do it. Evers allowing local boards to raise their taxes is 100% the local board's choice. Nothing says they have to do it.

@BartWinklerShow I swear they could've just created an OTA subchannel distribution that would be distributed to all local affiate stations that wanted games and allowed MLB TV to carry their streaming option and literally everything would've been right with the world...

@DanRShafer I get his point on maybe too much emphasis on downtown and expense of other areas, but much like a Bill Penzey who always has thoughts I noticed he's not operating any locations in the more challenged area.

"Anyone will tell you we’re losing population in the city of Milwaukee, and we’re not losing population from a bunch of white people who are moving into The Couture, we are losing population from people in the poverty level who cannot find living in this city sustainable. I have distrust and disdain for our leaders of today who don’t take on the “p word” — poverty — and look at real world solutions.”

It certainly doesn’t help when folks grift off voucher $ for students who were already enrolled in a private school… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Let’s not pretend Colleston isn’t being paid for his role by those with an angle in that enrollment decline…
Colleston Morgan Jr@colleston

Declining enrollment isn’t just a MKE issue — and our state’s K12 school funding system simply isn’t ready for the implications. We built a system that’s only meant to get bigger; we need new tools to handle the challenges of rightsizing.

And what is the state percentage of students with an IEP versus MPS? Does this include the six year graduation rate for those students? Let’s not pretend that Colleston doesn’t have an incentive to highlight MPS shortcomings as someone who lobbies for charters outside MPS…
Colleston Morgan Jr@colleston

I get it, we all want some good news @MilwaukeeMPS. But, we have to read past the headlines here: at 72%, MPS’ grad rate is 20 percentage points behind the state. 1 in 4 MPS students is still not completing HS on time. Progress, maybe, but still unacceptable.

I would feel a lot safer knowing I'm not shring the road w/ppl who feel comfortable speeding away with a cop standing on the side of their truck? Like, if you're willing to do that, how can I trust you won't blow through red lights or do 55MPH on a 25MPH designed road???
All in Wisconsin Action Fund@WisconsinAllin

Quick question for Wisconsin: What actually makes a community feel safe? We don’t mean like the safety you get from a seatbelt. We’re talking about the kind of safety that tells us our neighbors will see our humanity before making assumptions.
