@scullingbat Woodburning n'bour in modern central heated fully insulated home says it's a 'lifestyle choice', uses for aesthetic purposes, they won't stop burning unless told to. A ban in residential areas where alternative source of heating exists is the only answer to protect public health.

@scullingbat Marketing modern stoves to households that currently do not burn solid fuel on the basis that it is better than an open fire or older stove is the most perverse marketing strategy the neoliberals have come up with in a very long time. Somebody should go to prison for this.

It is a pity we can’t agree. The stoves you have sold in the past were not clean and I would be willing to bet that many are still being used. What we are experiencing is smoke and lots of it. Selling cleaner stoves will not solve this problem! This is the norm! #AirPollution

@mikehinford @NbrsVsWoodSmoke @DuoMog @scullingbat This is referring to open fires of the past though and some of those figures are questionable. Modern stoves improve burning by 90%+. As we said before it’s about perspective. I’m not sure we are going to agree on this.

I - like most people - love the crackle of a log fire, but there's absolutely nothing, as @KayBurley claims, "sustainable", either from a environmental or public health perspective about burning solid fuels. It should be completely prohibited in cities and suburban areas.

@jonburkeUK @KayBurley Love my wood burner. And my grandparents grew up with heavy coal fires and wood burners throughout their house, and their neighbours, and lived into their early 100s. I suspect its due to the weak lungs of the PlayStation generation.
