Note the spin! “Cleaner” not clean “up to 90%” which could mean anything! They do not support clean air they just want to carry on making money from their stove manufacturing business! Been here before with the tobacco industry!

@scullingbat Certainly not "up to" 90% in real life. And not for all emissions - weasel wording is typical of the SIA. "fair testing" - would that involve SIA members Kiwa Ltd and Poujoulat by any chance? And can't forget the SIA's favourite academic Amanda Lea-Langton! 🤣

@CharnwoodStoves - "Stoves are natural & resilient". Burning wood releases more CO2 than gas & destroys carbon sinks faster than they regrow.
- "Modern stoves cleaner". They pollute 450x > than gas.
-"We should follow evidence". Industry has lobbied to stop councils promoting health evidence.

The pollution comes from the burning of wet and unseasoned wood. The government brought a ban in but can’t be bothered to police it. They also made the sales of wet wood legal as long as they sold 2m3 or more. Don’t blame wood burners, blame the illegal sellers and the incompetent government.

Even the best wood burning stoves used in the correct way are more polluting than electric heating and gas boilers.

Unseren Gemüsegarten musste ich aufgeben, weil erst ein griechischer und dann ein polnischer Feuerfan nebenan und gegenüber eingezogen ist. Seit mehr als 10 Jahren werden wir noch zusätzlich übel gemobbt, bedroht, denunziert und mit Kfz gefährdet.
