Revenue from alcohol pales in comparison to the cost externalised to the society. It is the most dangerous drug that has been highly normalised and is sold by the govt. with police protection. And we want to "liberalize" alcohol further so that we can get few thousand alcoholic techies who will run us all over drunk in their cars.

💔 This one breaks my heart completely. Nagalakshmi, the soul of Sree Sai Silks, was killed in her own home yesterday by her husband Subramanian. He then ended his own life. He had no job, drank a lot, and kept demanding money from her. She was the one running the business, carrying the family, dealing with all the debts and pressure. When she started pushing back and fighting for some peace, things turned deadly. Their 18-year-old son came home from college and walked into the worst sight any child could see, his mother gone, his father hanging from the fan. Their older son, studying medicine in Russia, is rushing back to this shattered world. She was only 41-42, smiling in those Instagram reels, working hard for her boys, trying to hold everything together. Now two young sons are left without their mom and dad. I keep thinking how many families are silently breaking like this, money fights, alcohol, ego… and no one to help before it’s too late. Rest gently, Nagalakshmi. Your smile and your strength touched so many. 🕊️ Sending whatever strength I can to her sons. They shouldn’t have to carry this alone.

BBC won't show you the full picture on this rural bank "drama". Woman died Jan 26. April 27 her brother storms in demanding full ₹19k, no death cert, no succession, nominee already dead. Then he pulls out actual skeletons in anger. By afternoon? Magic death certificate appears, 3 heirs found, money divided.

Odisha Grameen Bank releases ₹19,402 to Jitu Munda’s family in Keonjhar after the skeleton row. An additional ₹30,000 assistance provided from the Red Cross fund. Death certificate and legal heir certificate also issued to the family by local authorities. As it turns out, Jitu Munda was unaware of the legal heir process. The bank, on its part, did nothing wrong and followed the standard banking procedures.

Not blabbering u cheap. Telling the facts only. Being a banker doesn't give you right to harass the poor. Audit ? What audit ? Don't make it that only a single person is responsible for fraud. From bottom to top bankers are involved in fraud. Go to Google n search the banking fraud in india. U can get ur reply. Btw what a banker does, bank owes the same not different.

@Satyara04239584 @manas_muduli Bank employees are personally liable for financial frauds at the Bank. That's why they are so strict when it comes to rules and due procedures. No bankers request for documents for their verification but for their justification in audit. Otherwise their job is at stake

Emotions and sensitivity aside, there is a technical side too. I know bank workers can sometimes be rude and unhelpful. But whether it’s ₹20,000 or ₹2 lakh, will a bank employee just hand over money without proper documentation, especially if the person is not the nominee? If that were the case, tomorrow anyone could walk into a bank and claim money in the name of a relative. On the ground, people like you and me didn’t step in to help, but on social media everyone is giving lectures. Still, it’s a sad situation. Things shouldn’t have reached this level.

@Imdeens @dibakardutta_ Which one is emotionally draining and difficult for a tribal person Getting a death certificate. or digging a dead body of beloved family member Because you are a casteist, you think tribals are less humans and think its not difficult for them to dig a dead body.

The other side of the 'viral story' about a man forced to present the dead body of his sister to withdraw her bank savings. 1. The man, Jitu Munda, visited the Odisha Grameen Bank on 27th April and wanted to take out his sister's money. 2. The bank informed that 3rd party withdrawls are not allowed without proper authorisation. 3. Jitu then told the bank officials that his sister had passed away. 4. The bank stated that he needs to submit valid documents, such as a death certificate, to process the settlement. 5. As per the bank, Jitu was in a drunken state and became disruptive. 6. He later arrived at the bank premises with the exhumed remains of his sister 7. The officials had to call the cops after he placed his sister's dead body on the bank desk. 8. The bank said that it was only trying to protect the savings of a tribal woman, and it couldn't have given the money away without proper documentation. 9. Once the death certificate is received, the bank will process the settlement. It is indeed a heart-wrenching story. The sight of an elderly man, having to prove that his sister is no more, is infuriating. But it is highly unlikely that the bank officials told him to present the body. People do things out of desperation, and we as fellow humans empathise with it. But at the end of the day, the bank needs to follow certain rules and regulations/ procedures to prevent fraud. The question is - Can banks make an exception in certain cases based on age and rural setting?

😱 Horror! In India, a man dug up his sister’s body to withdraw money from her account The bank repeatedly refused to release the funds — they required inheritance documents or the personal presence of the account holder, who had died two months earlier. In the end, the man dug up his sister’s remains, wrapped the body in cloth, and brought it to the bank as “proof of death.”

Do you really think anyone would dig up their dead sister’s skeleton if they were not pushed to the extreme? Please have atleast SOME humanity. Jitu Munda’s sister, Kakra Munda, died two months ago. Her husband and only child died before she did. There was a clear case to be made for intestate succession, with no will left behind and Jitu being the sole surviving next of kin. Instead of making the process simpler, the bank made Jitu run in circles - because he was an Adivasi man. This was a public sector bank. These were goverment employees. They have a DUTY to the citizens of India because their salaries come from OUR taxpayer money. What right did they have to treat Jitu this way?
Ankit Kedia@Ankittskedia

What a morally bankrupt country we live in, driven more by emotion than reason. A man, who wasn’t a nominee in his sister’s bank account, tried to withdraw money after she passed away. The bank asked for a death certificate or nominee proof, which is standard. Instead of following the process, he brought her skeleton to the bank. Now the whole country is trolling and shaming the bank people. Funny how no one wants to follow rules. A system doesn’t run on emotions, it runs on rules. But in India, people often choose emotion over process.

None of this would have happened if this poor man Jeetu Munda had not taken such an extreme step of carrying his elder sister Kalra Munda’s skeleton and if it had not been reported in media and highlighted across social media. The bank put out a useless clarification blaming this man of being inebriated and unwilling to understand procedures. Such is the apathy of the system. Vlog earlier- youtu.be/HMaGwJJqL8M?si…
