@InnesMiller @GlasgowSubway Sounds like a great bit of urban exploration so I must check it out! I did the same thing on the Moscow Metro once. Obviously a different aesthetic but it was quite something…

#MomentsOfBeauty in #Glasgow: The suspended ceiling in Hillhead Subway Station has been removed so it’s fantastic to see all the no-nonsense engineering working hard to hold up the buildings above. It’s so powerful and Piranesian I think it should be permanently exposed🧐😮!

@MurphyNiallGLA @GlasgowSubway That’s only one of the stations … they’ve carried the theme along the line. I spent a day travelling on it just to take a look at the different stations - was well worth it.

To those speculating/wishing for an early general election, history is not on your side. All governments in last 100 yrs with large majorities survive for 4+ yrs. However, there is one exception (1922) that might have a bearing on Keir Starmer's government. 1/2

@CllrScottArthur @thecockburn Thankfully it does feel like things are improving, but still a huge way to go. The state of our roads are not just bad for cyclists (actually dangerous) and cars, but it sends a message that our city is down trodden. Please invest more sooner.

These independent figures from the Improvement Service demonstrate that the work we’re carrying out is having a real impact - it looks like we may have halted the decline in road condition in Edinburgh. In fact, we’re on track to improve more square metres of roads and pavements than in any other financial year in 2023/24. As a result the rating of the condition of our entire road network, the Road Condition Index (RCI), has also continued to improve year on year. Indeed, the data indicates that improvements in Edinburgh have exceeded those in 29 of Scotland's 32 local authorities. That’s in part thanks to an additional £11m of capital investment committed in last year’s budget and this year we’ve gone even further to pledge £12.5m to tackling poor road and pavement surfaces, which will help us to deliver a safe, usable network. Of course, concerns around the condition of our roads and pavements remain and are justified, and while statistics like these are a good marker, it’s people’s perceptions of our road and pavement network that matter the most. Like any other city we continue to work to a tight budget, in the face of increasing labour and material costs. However, this ongoing investment, along with prudent planning and delivery of schemes, is helping the situation to improve. This data shows that for A-roads we have moved from 24th (out of 32) in the national league table to 21st... so there is much more to do! (The figure is for A-roads.)

Was so incredibly surprised and delighted on Wednesday to win the @ScottishDesign Interior Design Award 2022, and to be Commended in Retrofit for @cabins_in_the_city. As a first project, was very special to receive this recognition.
