@BreeSolstad Thank you. This was an awful story made far worse by slanderous gossip that piled hurtful lies and speculation on top of a reality that was already more than painful enough. But the grace of Christ abounds, and we should be grateful to see a sister embracing true repentance.

Imagine being lectured on “the state of humanity” by this guy. 🤯 While Sarah Stock is silently focusing on her relationship with Jesus, repentance, sacramental Confession, and healing her marriage—and silently enduring people lying about her having had an abortion—this man is cruising the country without a care in the world for the wife and children he has shattered. Worse still, he’s loud and proud about it. This is not a feminist tweet. This is not a pro-woman or anti-male tweet. This is reality. Sarah Stock admitted her sin, deleted her accounts, sought spiritual guidance, returned to the Sacraments, and is trying to mend a sacramental relationship she knows she seriously damaged—all while being lied about and degraded in the most vile ways. Elijah Schaffer, on the other hand, boasts publicly about his genitalia working properly and wears the Orthodox Church like a mask, all while showing zero remorse, repentance, charity, or accountability. Go ahead and reply: tell me I’m defending a whore, that this proves women can never take accountability, or that she deserves endless degradation. I know this won’t be popular. But I am convicted by Christ to say it anyway. And I pray some of you will take this as an opportunity to stop kicking a fellow Christian while she is down—and instead direct that same moral outrage toward the one who has shown no evidence of turning back. Redemption is open to all who truly seek Him and fall on their knees to say: “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.”

Friendly reminder this isn’t really true. Most men and women are non-promiscuous, monogamous, and have sex primarily in the context of romantic relationships.

@lisavsworld 1) Few people even try to be romantically and sexually attractive anymore. 2) Men and women don't understand each other well, and it's worsened with broken and shrinking families and decaying communities. 3) The old ways of meeting people have gone, and the new ones stink.

One of the most pointless forms of self-sabotage is confusing "this shouldn't matter" with "this doesn't matter." This applies to so many issues: weight, tattoos, clothes, income, sexual history, education, job instability, etc. You can think they shouldn't matter. You can wish they didn't. But these things will tangibly affect your life. You are better off confronting that reality, like it or not, and ordering your choices accordingly.

@GiffLasta Titanic is garbage. But it is very silly and, yes, ultimately feministic to pretend not to understand the difference between a man dying to save the woman he loves and a woman dying for the sake of a man. The latter is, of course, pathetically unromantic.

@NoahRevoy All of this is true, and it points to a deeper problem: the ready availability of divorce and its normalization are all the more dangerous because it makes it easier for people to fight and split instead of doing the hard work to make a marriage successful.

She got divorced, knowing what the consequences would be, and then she is unhappy with those consequences afterward. I read a study a while back that said the majority of women are worse off and less happy post-divorce than they were pre-divorce. Divorce is very bad for women. It is terrible for children. And it is not good for men either. But that was the choice instead of working things out.

@extradeadjcb Either she wasn't that into him, she isn't serious about wanting a relationship, or both. It's good that he learned this right away.

@KoYasEphraimite @extradeadjcb I have a similar story. I'm sure there are times when a guy can keep a relationship going a bit longer by hiding how he feels early on. But often, I think honesty up front is a helpful screen. If it turns her off, she wasn't really on the same page.

It's a gamble, I told my wife I loved her within 3 weeks, engaged at 5 weeks, married at 3 months. Happily married 21 years this year. 6 kids. If it had been a 1-way street she would have probably ran. That's the part women never admit. It's romantic if they are into the guy, if they aren't, then it's creepy. There is no objective methodology women abide by.

Rightness and wrongness of these issues isn’t nearly as interesting as the massive amount of people who view their actions as having no moral consequences either way.

@lisavsworld Bravo! It was three weeks for me too. I always hated the idea that I should have to hide how much a woman means to me in order to win her over. So I just didn't do it. Thankfully, my wife was just as much in love with me.
