@AndrewKolvet Based on this tweet, a governing body (SGA) elected by the population (students), voted on an issue. Sounds like democracy?

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has denied Turning Point USA’s RSO (Registered Student Organization) request following a vote by the Student Government Association. This decision effectively blocks our students from gaining official recognition on campus. As a result, the students will be forced to restart the process, reapplying and once again facing the same SGA that has already demonstrated clear bias against them. Tennessee, are these the values of your state? Your tax dollars are propping this garbage up.

My hometown school -- @UTChattanooga -- apparently told students they cannot form a campus chapter of @TPUSA due to false claims of "hate speech." If this is not reversed immediately, I will sue the school for the students, and win. And UTC will pay the bill. Fix it now!

Several years ago, after the company I was an executive at was acquired, leaders from @TCU reached out to discuss my family’s potential support for the new TCU Sales Center and other initiatives. In that conversation, I asked a question that still troubles me today: why was the university fully funding a new trans, drag, and queer education program from general university resources, yet asking alumni to fund the existence of core business school programs? The @NeeleySchoolTCU , the Harris School of Nursing, and the Ranch Management program have long produced TCU’s most successful alumni, strongest donor base, and a steady pipeline of students. Shouldn’t these proven programs be prioritized for institutional support? Over the years, I’ve watched TCU evolve in ways many alumni no longer recognize. What was once a university rooted in free speech, Christian values, and a culture of open exchange has shifted toward a narrow ideological agenda. Alumni who once felt proud to give back now hesitate, uncertain whether the school’s current trajectory reflects the values that shaped their experience. When I attended TCU, it was a place where diverse ideas thrived. On Tuesday nights, I joined CEO (Collegiate Entrepreneurs Club). On Wednesdays, I attended RUF (Reformed University Fellowship). And on Thursdays, after philosophy club meetings, I debated ideas over drinks with classmates and professors until the early morning hours at the Pub. My friends came from many different religions, sexualities, political views, and backgrounds—yet we shared a commitment to inquiry, dialogue, respect, and a common moral foundation. Recently, at an event in Colorado, a family familiar with my TCU affiliation asked if I would want my children to attend. They had toured the campus twice and ultimately sent their kids to @SMU , saying its culture and community felt far closer to what I once experienced at TCU. For the first time, I realized that a school I had never considered might now be more aligned with my family’s values—just 45 minutes east of the place I once called home and where I met many of my best friends and my wife. I still hope TCU can reclaim its balance—championing world-class, mentor-driven education and genuine diversity of thought while preserving the traditions and programs that have long defined its excellence. Yet I worry that a small group of administrators and faculty, intent on advancing a DEI-centric agenda, may have already taken the university down a path that will be hard to reverse. The question for TCU—and for those of us who care deeply about its future—is whether it will return to the strengths that once set it apart, or continue down a course that alienates the very community that built it. If not, it risks ceding its place in higher education to institutions like SMU and other elite conservative institutions. As an alumnus, I once thought we only got the best of SMU when we hired @CoachSonnyDykes as our @TCUFootball coach. Now, I wonder if SMU may have something far more important—the values TCU has left behind.

Texas Christian University holds pride events but will not allow Christian baptisms and events. They denied our 10/7 event despite many rooms being available according to students and faculty, when pressed they said “this is not open for discussion” This is how free speech dies

@MarcIstook My dad was always my youth sports coach (soccer, baseball, basketball). He drafted my friends instead of the best kids available. We never made playoffs but always had fun and never hated sports. Now none of us ever went on to become professional athletes, so there is a cost 🙃

The anecdotes are bad enough but the stats tell an even more depressing story of just how many kids are quitting sports at an early age due to burnout. At a time when so many negative influences compete for our kids' attention, we need positive sports experiences more than ever.
Matt Schick@ESPN_Schick

Story on the latest sign of youth sports culture: Our 10U baseball team played a game yesterday. Opposing parents chirping at our 3rd base coach. Opposing parents yelling at umpires after calls that don’t go their way, adding “it’s us vs the umps!” Opposing player gets plunked with a baseball in the back while stealing second, is on the ground in obvious pain, and his own coaches/parents are screaming at him to get up and toughen up. Nobody went out to check on him. Opposing tough-guy coaches arguing calls non-stop. Screaming at their own players for not listening to instruction. After the game (a loss for them), those coaches spent 10 minutes arguing with the umpires & tournament organizer while their own players waited patiently in the outfield for the postgame meeting. That meeting included forcing them to run a lap after a long day of baseball (they’d played a doubleheader). As our team/families drove away from the fields, their team was still in the dugout, as the head coach laid into them for their performance. This is 10U travel baseball. This is youth sports. You wonder why kids burn out from the game or turn out to be bad adults. The cycle feeds itself. The youth sports culture needs good people to stand in the gap, and stand up for the kids. Each weekend is a wake-up call to just how bad it has gotten, and it’s only getting worse.

Hey @hulu_support these ad break encodes are crazy. Meaning not only can you not skip through breaks, but through a program either. Whether they’re at the network level or the local level, this issue is enough to drive me to YouTube 😳
