This is my coming out thread. I’m embarrassed by how late in life this is happening. But growing up in the 70s there were no examples for me to look at to understand myself. In fact it was the opposite. Plenty of messages of shame and disgust.

@Codie_Sanchez Check out @foodrescuehero turning that loss into a good by redirecting food to people in need. There are a lot of nonprofits doing the same thing. The ROI there is a net reduction in climate impact AND a net impact in reduction of the negative effects of hunger.

mostly on 🧵 now but this is important. @pghtransit reduced service again. This is NOT OK. Regional service has been chipped away at its critical for everyone but esp ppl living w disabilities. Its also a necessary part of our food system allowing ppl to access food affordably

Freeze those leftovers people! Food waste majorly impacts climate change. Eating leftovers keeps them out of the landfill AND means you eliminate the upstream climate impact of growing, making & transporting MORE food to replace what you just tossed! refed.org/articles/ameri…

This is why it's important to take your caretaker with you if possible. Or at least an advocate. I've become a ferocious guard dog when it comes to making sure my #PWME is heard in health care settings.

#MECFS patients tend to arrive exhausted in the doctor's office and in this state cannot think or communicate properly or stand up for themselves, or even explain the illness to another person. They arrive in an especially vulnerable state.

Does anyone know if any organizations specifically are looking for reusable water bottles for unhoused people in PGH. know about most orgs that serve people who are unhoused but I have a ton of nice water bottles we are trying to rehome
