Absolutely bonkers if the city hired a police chief while telling him he could also work as a traveling NCAA basketball referee after one year. This isn’t Somerset; it’s a world-class city. That he even asked about eventually returning to reffing should’ve been a giant red flag.

Reading this passage in an Auschwitz survivor’s book that is required reading for my current grad class was honestly so chilling this particular morning. Wow.
