We have to make peace with the fact that taking care of people, whether it’s children and especially the elderly is EXTREMELY difficult! It’s physically, psychologically & emotionally taxing! I got chronic hypertension young, taking care of my mother and will likely have it for life! Expecting women to do all of this unpaid care at great cost to themselves is no longer feasible. Back in the day elderly people got sick and died and they didn’t get that old. Now people are living 20+ years completely incapacitated requiring 24/7 help that either has to be done with a tremendous sacrifice by a daughter or extreme cost in a facility. Either we need to focus on robotic assistance, or rethink artificially extending people’s lives when they have very little quality of life. Harsh reality for some.
