One footgun I have encountered in Rust is that it doesn't enforce type safety when it comes to type aliases. I was so surprised when I learned this!

@y_molodtsov @GergelyOrosz yeah, i can't wait for stablecoins to become more en vogue and for people to learn you can't do chargebacks and why we have banks/payment processors in the first place.
digital payments are mainly a social and economic problem to solve, not a pure technological one.

@GergelyOrosz Because the credit card fees are needed to battle fraud. Because getting in and out of stablecoins isn't instant โ even with Coinbase you first have to sign up and convert.

Walmart will not ever magically turn credit card purchases into stablecoins (or bank transfers or even cash) becauseโฆ people pay using these because of the *benefits* of CC (eg cashback, benefits etc etc)

my traffic to free sites should go through the HAM (Hamburg) or TXL (Berlin) colo but it goes through EWR (New Jersey) according to /cdn-cgi/trace.

The DX I can understand; I've been building webapps and SaaS products for 5 years now in top of Cloudflare, so I know first hand how frustrating it can be sometimes (they move very quickly and their docs often become broken).

@uwunetes @Fooshikins @MMotala10 talking about storage, hetzner's object storage is also really cheap. im still waiting on their access control UI to become more convenient like Linode's to fully switch but i'm already using it for a few projects.

@Chinoman10_ @uwunetes Cloudflare on the free plan has horrible routing on German ISPs, so all traffic to my sites is routed through the US, which I dislike for myriad reasons.
Also I had to deal with Cloudflare's suboptimal DX at work enough last year, though I heard it's gotten better.

Exact same kind of service (CI/CD, branch deployments, serverless backend functions, etc.), except it's literally 100% free, no strings attached (yes, really).

iโm running a k3s cluster on hetzner cloud for my apps but thatโs because i personally like maintaining this stuff on my own time. iโd recommend something like coolify too if you want to self-host but want the Vercel DX.
