@KeeganMatheson Agreed. Hoffman should be the 5th reliever behind Lou, Rogers, Fischer and even Fluherty. If he works his way back to be 3rd, great, and he can share closer with Lou depending on the game. If not, we can use him in lower leverage. It’s a long season.

Any closer decision won't be as dire and final as it feels, either.
If the #BlueJays give Hoffman a reset in lower leverage, he'll still have every opportunity in the world to be closing games again soon. Their best bullpen (by far) is still with a good Hoffman in the 9th.

If the #BlueJays choose to move off Jeff Hoffman in the closer's role, even briefly, I like the idea of Louis Varland sharing the 9th with Braydon Fisher.
If the game allows for Varland in the 9th, great. If a hot spot comes up earlier, it's Varland's, then Fisher gets the 9th.

@seangentille You won’t name an executive and it likely isn’t a good executive, b/c anyone in the playoffs doesn’t care and isn’t chipping into an article.
It also fails to analyze which teams would give Connor a better chance, which might be 0? Leon and Bouch make the Oilers top 3 at worst.

But he also needed an Olympic gold and Cooper/Armstrong bungled that roster up. Where’s the article critical of that?
And what team gives McDavid a better chance? Avs and Panthers can’t afford him.

@Brandon_N_Wile In today’s age you should probably always support the player. But I don’t know if John needs to make fans feel like we don’t know baseball.
The team needs some urgency/passion before it’s too late. Saying we need Jeff for the remaining 142 is ok but for now, he’s not playable

Important to note that Schneider always will support his players - especially in public. He understands for the team to be successful, they will need Hoffman.
If there is a change in roles, it will be discussed with Hoffman first anyway.

@SlaterNFL When your biggest move is Rashan Gary, that isn’t good enough. Historically bad defense needs a big time playmaker or two. If Rashan was the 2nd biggest move, then fans would of been pleased

The kick in the pants for Osa here is the Commanders offered far more money last year but Osa wanted to stay in Dallas and took significantly less to do it.
He also just built a new house.
