The Mailbox Test, like the breakfast test, is an excellent way to tell who you can allow to wield power in your society.
Goes like this:
If someone is hurt trying to destroy someone else's stuff in order to take pleasure from their pain, do you sympathize with...
The aggressor because he got hurt?
Or with the guy who owns the stuff, because he wasn't the aggressor?
You can have people in your society who fail the Mailbox Test. That's okay... they can work at hospices, or shelters for orphaned kittens, or something.
But you cannot allow them to vote, or otherwise wield political power. Because if you do, they will open the gates of the city to the enemy.
I am personally tired of everyone pretending that people who enjoy ruining things for random strangers are just kewt smol beans who are only aggressive because of all the complex socioeconomic factors and lack of resources.
They knew someone would be hurt by what they did. They knew that someone had done literally nothing harmful to them. And those two ideas, in combination made them feel pleasure. And they went and did it.
That is the sign of a rotten soul.
Defending ourselves and our property is not just a right, it's a moral obligation. Otherwise, we just kick the can down the road for someone else to deal with, someone who may not be able to defend herself.
I don't care if a vandal breaks his arms trying to destroy my stuff. Because I value my stuff more than a vandal's arms. And the fact that he tried to destroy somebody else's stuff shows that he, too, values his arms less than the opportunity to hurt somebody.
We cannot allow such people inside the city, and we cannot give the keys to those who would open the gates for them.

Despite the fact that I can see how effective this would be, I must oppose it because the damage it would do to my enemy (who bashes in my mailbox) would far outweigh the good of saving my mailbox. Its disproportionality is opposed by our duty in charity (and even justice) to watch out even for the good of our enemies. (Yes, by the way, I have had my mailbox bashed in by random vandals.)

@theblessedsalt Yeah and? Who gives a f*ck. If someone is evil enough to destroy my property imo. they should get hurt as much as possible from it lol. Advertising warns the vandal which prevents him getting hurt which is the #1 objective of the measure

Aber statistisch ist das Risiko erhöht und aus dem Vergleich 20jähriger, armer Algerier mit 40jährigen, gut situierten Japanern kann man einfach null Schlüsse über Kulturen ziehen.

@FabianCHF Mir wurden die zwei oberen ohne Narkose entfernt, war absolut kein Problem und schmerzfrei. Waren aber auch ganz heraus gewachsen und die Wurzeln nicht „verhakt“. Wenns alle 4 auf einmal sind und diese eingewachsen oder Eitrig sind würde ich eher Vollnarkose empfehlen.

saluuuut les ami(e)s! pretty slow day for me tbh, some good strength in the market to close out the week so focusing more on alts this time around and prob will this weekend too broke the wednesday top thursday nuke meta which I think could potentially be very telling for how the next few weeks are going to play out (barring any more doomsday macro scenarios) don't get too excited yet but worth opening your mind up to the possibility that we could trade higher maybe start looking through coins you like and make some plans for extended momentum loss, potential range breaks or reclaims happy friday gang <3 hope you all have a good weekend

alright alright alright finally finished my trade review for this thursday's session
it's a long one so I'll split it into parts in the comments
hit rate was 100% for this session but hopefully you can still appreciate the nuance in reading through the review and understand that just because it went well, they are not all necessarily 'good' trades
I think if you look at my trade selection, there are clearly moments when I'm just too trigger happy and end up chasing a move that I know I've missed my 'perfect' entry for
I also need to do a better job at finding the line between being aggressive with my scalping and overtrading every rotation because a few of these trades the potential return is just too small to be considered +ev relative to the risk I'm taking by entering a trade
some of these trades (especially when it comes down to exits) tend to be very discretionary because I rely very heavily on my ability to read strength in real time through 10s Aggr and the occasional tick chart
idk how interested you would be in that but I'll probably cook up a few psychology lessons in the future (both for trading and just life + how those intersect) because that just happens to be a big personal interest of mine
once again I would like to encourage you all to share more trades and do trade reviews too!!
it's more fun when we are all trying to get better together and if I can offer some words of encouragement or (helpful) criticism then I'd like to have the opportunity to do so

goooood morning and sheeeeeeeeeee we locked tf in today delta netural strat worked pretty well, was able to maximize the profit out of both positions by cutting the long after the final pump and letting the short run overnight had to scalp on nado bc I still have the short running on variational but worked out bc I can flex my execution on you bozos now too <3 I'll probably bookmark this for a future trade review bc there are a few things I can say about today's session gonna log off for a bit and work on some notes, have a great day!

BREAKING: Vitalik states that @Pumpfun has killed memecoins by turning new retail investors entering the crypto space into degenerate gamblers and with no real-world use, the industry will die fast.

A 16 year old in Melbourne, Australia posted a message on MySpace in January 2008 that read “Parents away, tell yr m8s, u don’t want to miss it.” Over 500 people showed up to a quiet suburban street. Police called for backup with dogs and a helicopter. A police car was damaged. The neighbours’ properties were trashed. And the kid who threw it refused to apologise on national television.
His name is Corey Worthington. His parents were on holiday at the Gold Coast when he sent out the invitation via MySpace, MSN Messenger and text message. Within hours a crowd of hundreds had overwhelmed the small street in Narre Warren, a suburb in Melbourne’s outer south east. Two days later the Australian current affairs programme A Current Affair sat him down for an interview. He arrived shirtless, in a fluffy jacket and a pair of yellow sunglasses that would become the most talked about accessory in the country. When journalist Leila McKinnon asked him to take off his sunglasses and say sorry, he said: “I’ll say sorry, but I’m not taking off my glasses.” When asked if he would do it again he said yes. When asked if he had a message for anyone he said: “Get me to organise your party.”
Within days he was hired as a professional party promoter. He sold his sunglasses to a magazine for $2,000, but bought an identical pair for $20 beforehand and kept the originals. He appeared on Big Brother Australia, competed on Australian Ninja Warrior, and released a cover of the Beastie Boys’ “You Gotta Fight For Your Right to Party.” The 2012 Hollywood film Project X, about a house party that spirals out of control, was widely rumoured to be based on his story.
