@mufcgrc @jclib1990 Most supermarket structures are based around hiring part time workers so they have more cover for people who are taking time off holidays or sick. If thats their only job at part time then they'll have to claim UC.

If you scrap self checkouts, which some of us actually like by the way, you have to redirect staff to tills which itself reduces other essential operations such as stock management, and therefore reduces productivity, and has an impact on their wages. Use the bloody machines!

So M&S have come out & said self service checkouts have contributed to the increase in shoplifting. I was in a Primark yesterday & there was a big queue waiting to be served & the self service was empty even though a member of staff was trying to get people to use them. Perhaps they are now coming to the conclusion that most people don’t want self service as we want to be served by a human being not a machine.

As someone who has been through and passed Developed Vetting, I can assure you that it is an incredibly rigorous (and expensive) process. The professionals involved in our vetting work to the highest standards. Rightly so. It is absolutely fundamental to our national security. Overrule or ignore it because of cronyism and the whole system comes crashing down.

Because I'm a working class student, who has had to work hard to get where I am. The majority of green party students I meet are living off their wealthy parents, have never worked any form of job in their life, and have gone to nice schools. They're absolutely ignorant to the issues that actually plague the working class. Landlords aren't the issue. Many working class people have mortgages for their tiny homes, or live in social housing. Very few deal with landlords, because often landlords require them to have a guarantor, a home owner friend or relative, who the poorest clearly won't have.

Hill I’ll die on: brioche buns make bad burgers and hot dogs. An urban legend has arisen that it’s the right way and supermarkets love selling pricier options. Normal buns are better and cheaper.
