I challenged leaders, business executives and technocrats at the Kenya–Tanzania Business Forum to reimagine the future of our region by reflecting on our past.
What would East Africa look like today if East African Airways, East African Railways, and our shared ports systems were still fully integrated? Why do we still operate with multiple currencies while other regions have moved towards deeper economic unity?
These reflections are not about nostalgia, they are a call to action. Our forefathers laid a strong foundation for regional integration, and it is now upon us to build on it with bold, practical steps.
A more integrated East Africa means stronger trade, greater mobility, more jobs and shared prosperity. The future is within reach, and we must move decisively to realise it for the benefit of our people.

Mark your Calender.
From 10th May-12th May, French President Emmanuel Macron will be right here in Kenya.
Yes. Get that right.
President William Ruto will be hosting the Africa Forward Summit alongside President Emmanuel Macron. This is clear diplomatic win.
This is a testament that Kenya is now a trusted partner that can connect Africa with major global powers, especially at a time when France is losing influence in parts of West Africa.
For our country, it strengthens the image of Kenya as active, modern, and globally engaged. It positions Nairobi as a key hub for business, technology, and diplomacy in East Africa.
Kenya is not just attending global discussions anymore; it’s helping lead them.💪👌

The Presidential Retirement benefits act is crystal clear on the matters on Retirement benefits of a retired President . The only condition for accessing these benefits by a retired President is to be NON-ACTIVE in politics including being a political party leader.
Rule of law is SUPREME.

Uhuru Kenyatta told Kalenjins in 2013 “yangu kumi, Ruto kumi.” They trusted him, voted twice, and delivered power. The moment Uhuru secured those votes, he disappeared from Rift Valley, turned around, and suddenly told the nation that Ruto—his own Deputy—was “someone he knows well and not good.”
If he was not good, why did you choose him as DP? Or was he only “good” when he was delivering votes?
Fast-forward to today: Ruto has been President for just three years, and the man who retired peacefully after borrowing trillions suddenly wakes up claiming to support Luos and preaching reform. What happened to the deal you promised Kalenjins?
Mt. Kenya people are told 2022 votes were decisive—and yes, they were. But let’s not pretend Rift Valley didn’t give Uhuru power twice before that.
And for the record, even when Ruto removed Rigathi Gachagua, he didn’t sideline Mt. Kenya—he appointed Kindiki, another Kikuyu. So spare us the selective outrage.
Kenya needs honesty, not political amnesia. You can’t eat with everyone, then act holy after retirement.

The creative economy lies at the heart of our transformation agenda - empowering our youth by unlocking talent, expanding opportunity, and driving inclusive growth.
We have already taken concrete steps to strengthen the sector, including the establishment of a State Department for the Creative Economy in Government.
To deepen this commitment, I have created a Creative Economy Office at State House. Soon, we will appoint key officials, including the Director of Gaming, Secretary for Film Services, and Head of Music and Fashion.
Joined our top film makers and content creators at the 14th Kalasha TV, Film Market and Awards at Kenyatta International Convention Centre, Nairobi, a platform that showcases the immense talent in our creative industry.
As we scale up investment in the sector, we are moving towards directing 30 per cent of Government advertising to creative platforms. I also urge Parliament to fast-track the Creative Economy Bill 2026 and strengthen copyright laws so that our artistes are not only celebrated, but also protected and adequately rewarded for their work.
Congratulations to all winners across various categories at this year’s ceremony. Next year, State House will bid to host the premier awards ceremony.

President Ruto: Four countries bid for Grammys. It is only Kenya that stepped up. Many people asked me why I am paying Sh500 million for that event.
