Roads are at the heart of the Government's Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), for it is through reliable road networks that people, especially in rural communities, are able to access markets, services and opportunities that improve livelihoods. The completion of the Kapsuser–Sosiot and the ongoing construction of Kapsurer–Kipsolu roads, a 13-kilometre twin-road project upgraded to bitumen standards in Belgut Constituency, Kericho County, is therefore a significant step in strengthening rural connectivity and local economic activity. The project will have a direct impact on the tea-rich zones of Kericho and the wider Rift Valley by improving access to farms, factories and markets. With better roads, farmers and traders can transport produce more efficiently, reduce post-harvest losses and stimulate trade across the region, further unlocking the agricultural potential that continues to anchor the local economy. The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration also plays an important complementary role by supporting coordination with local administration and security agencies to ensure safe use of the road network, facilitate smooth movement of people and goods and maintain order along key transport corridors that connect communities and markets. On the fourth day of his Western Kenya development tour, we joined H.E. President @WilliamsRuto in Vihiga County, where he continued to roll out impactful, people-centered projects under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), aimed at improving livelihoods and expanding economic opportunities at the grassroots. The President presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the 10,000-seater Kidundu Stadium, a key investment that will nurture local talent, create employment opportunities for youth and stimulate the local economy through sports, events and related businesses. In Mbale, he broke ground for the Mbale Modern Market, a transformative project that will provide traders with dignified working spaces, enhance trade efficiency, improve hygiene standards and boost incomes for small-scale entrepreneurs, especially women and youth. Additionally, the President handed over keys to new homeowners under the Vihiga Affordable Housing Project, marking a significant step in expanding access to decent and affordable housing. The President also laid the foundation stone for the Kanduyi Smart City Affordable Housing Project in Bungoma County, which will deliver 2,035 units of decent and dignified homes while creating jobs for young people.

With fellow leaders, we joined H.E. President @WilliamsRuto as he presided over the groundbreaking of the 264-kilometre Naivasha–Kisumu–Malaba Standard Gauge Railway extension in Narok County. Building on the success of the Mombasa–Naivasha line, which has since become a vital backbone for the movement of goods and passengers, this next phase marks a critical step in modernising our rail infrastructure and shedding the limitations of the old colonial network. This transformative project will strengthen regional trade by linking Kenya to East and Central Africa, lower the cost of transport and logistics, ease congestion on our roads and open up new economic opportunities across nine counties; driving growth, jobs and connectivity while positioning Kenya as a leading transport and logistics hub in the region.

The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (@KeRRA_Ke) is undertaking routine maintenance and upgrades on several key link roads across Nyamira County, covering a total of 60.1 kilometres. The network includes the route from Eronge (D209) through Kebuse, Kahawa, Memisi and Tembwo Border to Borabu TTC and Omonyenya (23.5 km); the link connecting Amakara, Isoge and Chebilat (16 km); the stretch from Chencha through Simbauti and Tindereti to Nyansiongo Mission (13 km); and the road from the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ATSU) through Saiga Ngiya and Kineni Junction to Prince Dan High School (7.6 km). Collectively, these improvements form a strategic network designed to enhance mobility, connectivity and the overall development of the region. The upgraded roads will open up previously hard-to-reach areas, linking them to major routes and easing the movement of people to access government services. The project also supports local trade, improves farmers' access to markets and strengthens security along critical corridors, particularly near the border with Sotik Sub-County, Bomet County. The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration plays a key role in ensuring that administrative services are accessible along these routes, enabling communities to reach local offices, health facilities and other government institutions efficiently. The Keringet ESP Market in Kuresoi South Constituency, Nakuru County, whose foundation stone was laid by H.E. President @WilliamsRuto in July 2024, is now 75% complete. Built under the standardized model for modern markets under the Economic Stimulus Programme, the facility features a two-level G+1 trading block designed to provide organized, secure and efficient business space for local traders. The market integrates cold storage facilities to preserve perishable goods such as vegetables and milk, a critical intervention in an agriculturally productive region, helping reduce post-harvest losses and stabilize farmers' incomes. An ICT hub will create opportunities for youth employment and digital enterprise, while essential social amenities, including an ablution block, breastfeeding room and reliable water and electricity connections, ensure dignity and inclusivity in trade. Upon completion, the Keringet ESP Market will formalize commerce, strengthen farm-to-market linkages, enhance value addition and stimulate the wider regional economy. The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration continues to facilitate smooth implementation, ensuring a safe and orderly environment for both construction and future trading activities.

Oversaw the official homecoming of the second contingent of Kenyan officers returning from Haiti under the Multinational Security Support Mission, marking the conclusion of a historic deployment of our officers step forward in service of global peace and stability. Their response to the call of duty was swift and selfless. In a foreign land, under difficult and often dangerous conditions, alongside the Haitian National Police, they upheld the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and courage, flying the Kenyan flag with distinction. We also honoured the memory of the three gallant officers who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty. Their sacrifice will forever remain etched in our national conscience and we continue to stand firmly with their families. As this phase of the mission transitions, Kenya remains committed to working alongside Haiti and the international community to sustain the gains made and support long-term peace efforts. To our returning officers, karibuni nyumbani. The nation salutes your service, your sacrifice and your unwavering commitment to duty.

Strengthening healthcare infrastructure remains central to the realization of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and the broader aspirations of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). In Ol Kalou, the 142-bed capacity J.M. Kariuki Memorial County Referral Hospital is currently undergoing construction, focusing on a major upgrade that will significantly expand access to specialized and referral health services for residents of Nyandarua County and the wider Central region. The project had been stalled for a long time before receiving a substantial injection of KSh 800 million from H.E. President @WilliamsRuto during his tour of Central Kenya in April 2025, revitalizing the works and fast-tracking its completion, now undertaken by the Kenya Defence Forces (@kdfinfo). The upgrade includes the installation of a 160-slice AI-enabled CT scan machine, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a High Dependency Unit (HDU), three modern operating theatres, a modern maternity wing, and additional utility wards designed to support comprehensive patient care. The project is now in its finishing stage, with about 50 workers currently on site undertaking final works as external and civil works continue. At the same time, the procurement of specialized medical equipment is underway to ensure the new facility is fully operational once construction is completed. The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration plays a key role in the implementation of the project, ensuring that the expansion of health infrastructure and access to specialized services directly contributes to a healthier, more secure and productive society. @InteriorKE

As part of the government's ongoing strategy to harness the Blue Economy, Kenya Shipyards Limited has commenced construction of a 29-metre shallow-draft ferry at the Kisumu Shipyard. The vessel will be the first public ferry operated by Kenya Ports Authority on Lake Victoria. The project is now at 50% completion, with most welding works finalised, structural joining and fitting completed and the passenger area ready. Ongoing works include electrical piping and painting of sub-structural components. The ferry will bridge a critical gap in public maritime transport, improving connectivity to island-rich areas such as Homa Bay County, including Mfangano Island, while linking the riparian counties of Busia, Siaya, Kisumu and Migori. In addition to large vessel fabrication, the shipyard also manufactures smaller fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) boats, commonly used for fishing, patrol and transport operations across Lake Victoria. Small-scale traders remain the heartbeat of Kenya's local economies and a critical force in the realization of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). From farmers bringing fresh produce from nearby villages to traders supplying essential goods, these entrepreneurs sustain livelihoods and keep rural commerce alive. Recognizing their central role, the Government is investing in modern trading infrastructure to transform informal roadside markets into dignified, organized commercial spaces. The Chesinendet ESP Market in Kipkelion East Constituency, Kericho County, answers this promise, with oversight support from the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration to ensure safe and secure operations. Commissioned under the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP), the modern facility will serve as a central hub for fresh produce and other goods, relocating traders from informal and weather-exposed roadside setups into a structured and secure trading environment. Construction is currently progressing, with plastering works ongoing as the project moves steadily toward completion. Once complete, the market will feature organized stalls designed for different types of merchandise, enabling traders to operate in an orderly and accessible setting. The facility will also include cold storage units to preserve fresh agricultural produce and help reduce post-harvest losses, a critical intervention for farmers and produce traders in the region. In addition, the market will provide essential social amenities such as breastfeeding rooms, clean ablution blocks and security rooms to enhance safety and comfort for both traders and customers. To further strengthen the economic capacity of traders, the market is planned to incorporate ICT hubs and SACCO offices that will support digital access, financial services and financial literacy.

The Government remains committed to expanding access to cancer care across the country through both progressive policy and strategic health infrastructure. In line with this commitment, the Social Health Authority (SHA) has enhanced the oncology benefits package from KES 550,000 to KES 800,000 per patient, significantly easing the financial burden of treatment for many Kenyan families. Complementing this policy support is the ongoing development of the Kisii Cancer Centre, a critical facility that will bring specialized cancer services closer to communities in Kisii and the wider South Nyanza region, advancing the goals of Universal Health Coverage (UHC). The project is currently at about 30% completion, with works progressing on the third floor, expected to run through mid-April. Construction of the Chemotherapy Centre block is scheduled to commence next week. Once complete, the facility will also include essential support infrastructure such as a Medical Gases Plant Room, Generator Room and Boiler House, ensuring reliable and uninterrupted medical services for patients undergoing critical treatment. Beyond healthcare delivery, the project demonstrates the broader role of the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration in supporting national development initiatives that safeguard public welfare.

Nyakach, a region sitting along the border of Kericho and Kisumu Counties, has in the past experienced periods of volatility arising from tribal clashes. Working closely with local leaders, community elders and regional security agencies, we have made significant progress in pacifying these tensions while pursuing long-term solutions that strengthen dialogue, promote peaceful coexistence and address the underlying causes of conflict. As the country gradually enters the political season, we continue to advocate for peace and responsible leadership. We also reaffirm the words of H.E President William Ruto that we will not allow chaos, incitement or violence to define our political space. Our democracy must thrive in an environment of order, respect and unity.
