@SarahLaw70 @Telegraph We think of our country as a whole.
But not so much your rancid little Anglo-state.
England, your business.
Scotland, ours.

@BradyJames75955 Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory, not part of the UK itself. Northern Ireland is an integral part of the UK, sends MP’s to Westminster etc. It’s not hard to understand.
English

@HighwaySqueak @That1984onTTWAR @PlaidExposed Scottish culture has contributed massively to the fabric of British identity. Britain is a shared identity shaped by all its nations, not just England.
English

@MartinGozzers @That1984onTTWAR @PlaidExposed There’s no such thing. ‘British’ is propaganda for ‘all these islands are England, run by England’.
Think about it, people use British to mean English. Is a typical Brit a Scottish man? No. The rest of the world thinks we all wear bowler hats & ride on red buses!

Plaid Cymru, Sinn Fein, and the SNP will work together to tear this country to shreds.
Michelle O’Neill@moneillsf
I have contacted SNP leader John Swinney and Plaid Cymru leader Rhun ap Iorwerth to congratulate them on their enormous mandates. For the first time ever, there could be three pro-independence First Ministers across these islands. More and more people are looking towards a future beyond the constraints of the Union. I look forward to continuing to build the friendship between the people of our nations, and to working closely with both John and Rhun in the time ahead.

@IrishUnity If you want economic uncertainty, weaker global influence, border and currency issues, pressure on public services, and years of political instability.
English

@HighwaySqueak @That1984onTTWAR @PlaidExposed UK institutions are British, not purely English. That’s why devolution exists, to prevent England from dominating.
English

@MartinGozzers @That1984onTTWAR @PlaidExposed That’s the whole point, isn’t it? England (or rather the English Establishment) is in charge of all of us. That’s what has to change.
English

@HighwaySqueak @That1984onTTWAR @PlaidExposed Well that’s an argument for more devolution, at least Wales has more self-government than England does.
English

@MartinGozzers @That1984onTTWAR @PlaidExposed But none of the ones I listed above. Don’t you think a country should control its own infrastructure, police and something as vital as the ‘crown’ estate?
English

@MartinGozzers @That1984onTTWAR @PlaidExposed But they shouldn’t be. Cymru should have control of policing, law, rail, immigration, defence, the ‘crown’ estate and energy infrastructure.
English

@HighwaySqueak @That1984onTTWAR @PlaidExposed England and Wales are part of the same legal jurisdiction.
English

@MartinGozzers @That1984onTTWAR @PlaidExposed 1) Until 2 days ago our Senedd was run by Westminster parties.
2) All Westminster parties represent the establishment, there is no opposition. Surely you can see that now?
3) Devolution = good - need more.
4) Cymru’s law+policing run by England.
5) ECHR covers human rights.

English

@HighwaySqueak @That1984onTTWAR @PlaidExposed All parties are Westminster parties and have seats in Parliament, that’s how sovereign states work. Devolution gives the nations within the UK the power to make decisions for themselves rather than all the decisions being made at Westminster.
English

@MartinGozzers Dim diolch…we’re all off!🏴🇮🇪🏴
English

@HighwaySqueak @That1984onTTWAR @PlaidExposed A dictatorship with regular competitive elections, opposition parties, devolved governments, an independent judiciary, and freedom of speech and press?
English

@MartinGozzers @That1984onTTWAR @PlaidExposed It’s clearly 100% a dictatorship. Why else would England want to keep it?
Anyway, you’re paid to spout this shit so it’s not worth bothering. Try not to look so clearly fake in future, eh?

English

@HighwaySqueak @That1984onTTWAR @PlaidExposed The UK has constituencies which each roughly represent about 100,000 people. Are you suggesting that people in Scotland and Wales should get more representation than people in England? Thats not very democratic.
English

@MartinGozzers @PlaidExposed Yes (apart from the central government thing). But it's not a country.
English

@Prae54Rae Joining the EU isn’t automatic. Most of Scotland’s trade is with the rUK, not the EU. Scotland would need to build a military and diplomatic infrastructure from scratch. The UK already has democratic protections. Energy prices are influenced by global markets.
English

@Prae54Rae Scotland would also have to cover all spending itself. Oil and gas revenues are volatile and declining long term. Nordic countries generally have higher taxes alongside stronger public services. Scotland will still have to implement spending cuts.
English

"In short, the outcome of Thursday’s British elections for here means a weakening of the power of the Westminster government to govern the UK, and a strengthening of nationalism’s leverage across these islands, but particularly here.
"The pace of change in the disunited kingdom over the next couple of years will be dizzying."

English

@FrancoAdamo1122 @irish_news Northern Ireland would very likely vote to remain in the UK.
English

@irish_news All the unionist political experts commenting on this post should have no problem with a democratic border poll to settle the matter then 😀
English

@That1984onTTWAR @PlaidExposed The UK is recognised internationally as a sovereign state with one central government, one seat at the UN, one currency, one passport, one military.
English

@PlaidExposed The UK isn't a country. And it's time to end this charade.
