@baller_g22 @BoltsBreakdown @anthohojan The only one I can say 88 had no chance on was the first Slaf goal. All the others he could have made a difference and didn’t. You are correct, the OT goal was just a complete choke. Vasi cheated for the short side against a lefty shooter in a bad spot. Hit his arm and went in.

@MattDoesInfoSec @BoltsBreakdown @anthohojan I’m a massive Habs fan, but that goal in OT cannot go in. I thought maybe Cernak screened Vasy a bit but that cannot go in. The other ones… okay. They happen. But that OT one cannot get by. It was elation for me, but my dad said that can’t go in. He’s right.

Since 2015, the Lightning have won NINE PLAYOFF SERIES after starting with a game-one loss—they're 9-6 in that time. I'm not ready to panic; I'm not giving up. Bolts in 5. #GoBolts

@BoltsBreakdown @anthohojan Vasilevskiy made some good saves but he also did not give us a chance to win. At least two of those goals, especially the OT winner, can’t go in. You need your $9.5m goalie to erase mistakes sometimes, because that is what the $9.5m is for.

@BoltsBreakdown The physicality last night was really the lone bright spot. Beyond that, it’s the same Vasi that has been selling us for 4 years now. The depth hasn’t been effective in at least a month. Notice how our troubles started when Kucherov stopped scoring 4 points a game?

@MattDoesInfoSec There’s a couple key differences between this team and the last few. Vasy is better. More depth. More physicality.

@BoltsBreakdown @Malone12R The problem is that we play the perimeter too much. It’s empty possession. The Hurricanes have been criticized for this over the last several years too. We are not a danger to score if we just circle around the boards for 90 seconds waiting for something to happen.

@Malone12R I say the same thing...although, after looking at the stats, we kinda got bodied 5on5... still, sure felt like we had some great looks & were holding the puck most of the time. We definitely looked much improved from the regular season showings.

@BoltsBreakdown I’m usually with you, but this is nearing copium overdose levels of unfounded optimism. Cooper is not known for making massive adjustments. Don’t expect much. Vasilevskiy quite literally sold game 1. That OT goal can’t go in, and he just doesn’t make the big saves.

R1GM1 Rapid Reaction || 3-4 OT Loss (MTL): Disappointing...no other word for it. Another home playoff loss; another OT playoff loss. As fans, we want answers...why are we taking so many dumb penalties? How do we keep losing in OT? What's wrong with us when we play at home? Yada. Yada. Yada... As frustrated as I am, and as much as I hate this answer, it's all about trusting the process. This is hockey. Sometimes games go like this...that is why it is a SEVEN GAME SERIES. Tonight, we were the better team. As Cooper always says, we won the game just not the score. We lost. Time to move on. Adapt. Overcome. Here's why a GM1 loss didn't shake my confidence even the slightest bit: 1) Jon Cooper. There is no better coach than Coop. He will study the film & make the adjustments needed. 2) Andrei Vasilevskiy. Vasy was incredible tonight. It is very evident he's locked in & ready to steal games. Anytime he's in net, we have a chance. 3) Nikita Kucherov. There's no player better than Kucherov. Not only is he a masterful puck handler, he's also an elite student of the game. He will learn the weaknesses of MTL & exploit them. I predicted Bolts in 5 before this series started, and I stand by that. We played better than Montreal & 5-on-5...we were more physical, more disciplined, & won more puck battles. All we gotta do is shore up the faceoff circle & take less penalties (especially the guys who play PK) ... bingo: the series is ours. I only noticed a few glaring mistakes...overall, it was a very solid effort. Here's the one that bothered me the most: in the first period, on MTL's 1st goal, Gonzo has gotten to be quicker with the puck. He won the puck battle in the corner, but his hesitation to rim the puck allowed MTL to get back in on it. On that same play, Raddysh & Moser both left the Canadien standing alone in front of Vasy?! Come on...someone has to guard the wide open guy in front of the net—that's hockey 101. This is a battle tested group, though...we'll be just fine. McDonagh. Perry. Guentzel. They'll level the emotions & get the guys right. Cannot wait for GM2... Bolts Breakdown Three Stars: 1st Star—Brandon Hagel 2nd Star—Jake Guentzel 3rd Star—Darren Raddysh #GoBolts

@BoltsJolts I don’t like Gourde on the PK. Do 38-71 and 28-59 on the PK. Also, we don’t play smart hockey the way a veteran team should. We depend on our talent to carry us the way youthful, unseasoned teams do. Same problem year after year.

The biggest edge TB had coming into this series was it was likely to be penalty filled on both sides and they had 1 of the top PKs in the league. Got absolutely caved in on the PK tonight and it cost them the game. Dumb penalties + no PK to take care of them is a losing combo.

@BoltsBreakdown OTT has excellent underlying numbers. All it takes is a couple of good games from Ullmark and suddenly we are in a dangerous position.

Rapid Reaction || 4-2 Loss (BUF): Alright, it’s official. I want Buffalo in the first round. I don’t see how it’ll be possible, but that’s what I want… I truly believe, even with the 3 losses this year, we are the MUCH better team. To their credit, though, Buffalo erased all the space out there. Entries were intercepted, shots were blocked, zone exits were immediate. Buffalo played a great game; they should be proud. With that being said, in a 7-game series, the Lightning would dominate. I have no fear facing the Sabres. The Lightning have the better goalie, the better defense, & the more talented offense. Let’s not forget, this is game 77 not game 83. Who the frick cares?! When it matters, we’ll see who comes out on top. As for this game, I don’t have much to gripe. Overall, I thought we played a solid game. Here are a few thoughts for improvement: 1) We need to take less penalties. Buffalo’s powerplay is too good to be that careless. 2) We seem so confident in each other that we just throw the puck to where we assume the teammate is…turns out, a defender is often there as well. A little patience & a strategic pass would go a long way. 3) Coverage was a bit of an issue today. I have no other explanation than the Bolts were simply not in the same mindset as Buffalo. I get the feeling the locker room is set on a deep postseason run, making these final games not all that crucial. If that’s the case, it makes sense that occasionally they’re a few moments behind in their reads. Overall though, tonight wasn’t a bad performance. Vasilevskiy was spectacular again & the offense did good to create chances against an incredible defense. Luukkonen made some amazing saves. We lost a hard-fought battle against a great team. Thank God it doesn’t matter. The worst part of tonight, and it’s VERY, VERY bad, is 100% the Holmberg injury. It’s time for Bolts Nation to unite in prayer for 29. We need him healthy come April 18th. 🙏🙏 Bolts Breakdown Three Stars: 1st Star—Jake Guentzel 2nd Star—Andrei Vasilevskiy 3rd Star—Nikita Kucherov #GoBolts

@BoltsBreakdown He had a sensational start to his rookie season and landed us Ben Bishop. He’s a legend in the same category as Kyle Quincey 😂

Ok hold on. I’m ignoring literally everything else in this tweet but I did a double take at Hagel at 6’2 and just googled in different ways for like 5 minutes looking for SOMETHING that said otherwise. Even went on the official Lightning app. EVERYTHING says 6’2 Ain’t no way
Jason Moser 🏒@PuckLuckJay

Just putting this out there now: Brandon Hagel is 6’2” 186 lbs. Logan Stanley is 6’7” 231 lbs. Zero chance Hagel accepts a fight with Stanley (…willingly…)

Very interesting report from @PSchrags. Says Jason Licht and Bucs have been “desperate” to bring back Mike Evans. Have made multiple offers. Says if Mike Evans leaves, it is a Mike Evans decision.
