This headline couldn’t be further from the truth. The EU continues to pursue discriminatory anti-competitive policies targeting American companies.   As Co-Chair of the Digital Trade Caucus, I commend the Trump Administration’s commitment to addressing these unjustified digital trade barriers impeding U.S. businesses and innovation. Kudos to @RepFitzgerald for raising awareness of this issue. It's disappointing for Brazil to rush consideration of this bill targeting U.S. tech leaders instead of looking to deepen the bilateral trade relationship.

I am shocked to learn that Brazil, in the middle of trade discussions with the U.S., is fast-tracking a DMA-style bill that targets U.S. companies. I support @POTUS’ strong stance against these damaging digital markets regulations around the world and will work with the administration to respond to this development. I urge Brazil to reject this failed EU approach that harms innovation and will further undermine the U.S.-Brazil relationship.

America’s tax base will not be pilfered by foreign governments. France’s potential move to raise their DST further proves that it’s discriminatory in nature against U.S. companies. If this comes to pass, I will fervently work with @RepJasonSmith and @SecScottBessent to enact severe and swift retaliatory measures. France needs to drop their DST and work with the U.S. in good faith to address our concerns.

Thank you to @RepFitzgerald for introducing legislation targeting the DMA and other regulatory practices in Europe. Any trade deal with the EU must make progress on getting U.S. companies out from under these burdensome regulations and prevent future measures.

🚨Today, I introduced the Protect U.S. Companies from Foreign Regulatory Taxation Act and the PROTECT USA Act of 2025. Both pieces of legislation are aimed at declaring U.S. companies independent from burdensome foreign regulations, particularly targeting the European Union’s Digital Markets Act and Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive.

After months of productive dialogue with other countries on the OECD Global Tax Deal, we will announce a joint understanding among G7 countries that defends American interests. President Trump paved the way for this historic achievement. On January 20, the President issued two Executive Orders instructing Treasury to defend U.S. tax sovereignty, and as a result of President Trump’s leadership we now have a great deal for the American people.
