Happy to be selected as a fellow of @CJIDAfrica's 2025 AI and Tech Accountability Reporting Fellowship.
Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development@CJIDAfrica

One month ago, we launched the AI and Tech Accountability Reporting Fellowship, which we are proud to implement as part of our portfolio work with @aicollectiveng. The fellowship started with a three-day virtual intensive training for journalists and researchers interested in exploring the social implications of AI and holding stakeholders accountable, with a strong emphasis on ethics and tech accountability. Today, we are excited to announce 20 excellent fellows who have emerged from those training sessions and weeks of reviewing story pitches! In the next three months, these fellows will receive editorial guidance, mentorship, and funding support to produce at least three in-depth stories on AI and tech accountability. Can you spot a fellow on the flyer? Tag/mention them in the comment section, let's celebrate them! 🚀🚀 #AI #TechAccountability #Fellowship

During last year's Hallelujah Challenge, I participated with three IV drips at the South Health Campus, one of which was a strong painkiller that I initially objected to using because it contained narcotics. Only I was allowed to administer it. I was at one of the lowest points in my life, experiencing several flashes and episodes. In fact, one doctor even noted on my case file that I wasn’t showing any medical improvement. Despite this, I held on to my faith in God and used all my strength to join the Hallelujah Challenge. In one of the sessions, Pastor Nathaniel Bassey delivered a prophecy about someone who had undergone intestinal surgery, declaring that God had healed them. My surgery had been a five-hour battle to reconstruct my intestine. I claimed that prophecy, and just three days later, I was discharged from the hospital. The healing and restoration that followed completely blew my mind.

At around 5 a.m. that September in 2023, after waiting in the emergency room for 10 hours, I received my diagnosis. The doctor said, 'This is weird—how come you have all this, and you’re still here?' I thought it was the end. I remember crying during the first attempt when one of the medical personnel tried to insert an NG tube from my nostril to my stomach to suction out the trapped gas in my bowel. As I prepared for my 5-hour surgery later that day, I asked God for two things. When I woke up seven hours later, I knew He hadn't failed me, and someone told me I was alive to touch more lives. The lives I have touched in the last 12 months are a reflection of God's mercy and favor. May I never fully know the extent of my impact on humanity. I will forever be grateful to God, the medical team at South Health Campus, and everyone who prayed daily for me. My story is reminiscent of Daniel in the lion's den!
