Kraken Says It's Being Extorted After Two Insider Access Incidents Kraken chief security officer Nick Percoco (@c7five) has confirmed the exchange is being extorted by a criminal group threatening to release videos of internal systems showing client data. Percoco stressed that Kraken's systems were never breached, client funds were never at risk, and the company will not pay or negotiate. The exchange identified and shut down two separate instances of inappropriate access to limited client support data. The first was traced to a member of Kraken's own support team in February 2025, after a tip about a video circulating on a criminal forum. A second, similar incident was detected more recently and handled the same way, with access revoked and affected clients notified. Across both incidents, roughly 2,000 client accounts were potentially viewed, which Percoco says represents about 0.02 percent of Kraken's user base. Extortion demands began shortly after the access was terminated, with criminals threatening to share materials with media outlets and on social media. Percoco said @krakenfx believes there is sufficient evidence to identify and arrest those responsible, and that the company is actively working with federal law enforcement across multiple jurisdictions. Kraken also tied the incidents to a broader pattern of insider recruitment efforts targeting crypto, gaming and telecom firms.

@GodlyAction Bingo. The word of God cuts to the core. It is a light to reveal my sinful nature, and that Christ Jesus is a gracious Saviour who gave His all to reclaim me back out of the darkness and death. I was dead. I am now alive in Him. By Grace you are saved. Nothing of us, ALL by Him.
