Disappointing. Rep. Mike Lawler voted with Democrats in a 219-209 vote to block President Trump from ending TPS and deporting illegal Haitian migrants. As the representative for New York's 17th District, you've publicly praised the Haitian community in the Hudson Valley, highlighting their role in healthcare and small businesses, and supported extending Temporary Protected Status. After the strong mandate for border security and enforcement in 2024, Hudson Valley voters expect our elected officials to prioritize American citizens, workers, and communities first — not continued protections that delay necessary deportations.

Older generations say “we all struggled in our 20s.” No, you didn’t. You didn’t pay $2,200 for rent and $7 for eggs. You didn’t graduate into $50K student debt and $0 job security. Gen Z isn’t dramatic. They’re drowning.

@Eric_Schmitt I'll bet $100 cash Erik Prince can get those deportations done for a lot less and still profit handsomely. Wanna take that action?

This is exactly why we need mass deportations. A removal may cost $18k, but the lifetime fiscal drain (taxes paid minus costs) per illegal alien is $68k. Do the math: deporting 10 million illegal aliens would save Americans $500 billion. We can't afford NOT to mass deport.
Laura Ingraham@IngrahamAngle

“$18K PER DEPORTATION” @SecMullinDHS: “It costs about $18,225 per person to deport.” “Multiply that by MILLIONS—it’s staggering.” “Why so high? Asylum claims, attorneys, clogged courts.” “That’s the system we’re dealing with.”

@FUDdaily Imagine being such a POS that you look out a beautiful Spain, it's culture, it's food, it's history, and then invite millions of filthy invaders to soil it. Imagine being that person. Disgusting.

Kyiv burns as Ukraine no longer has any Patriot interceptor missiles - the only defense against Russian Iskander ballistic missiles. Vice President Vance recently bragged of his "proudest" achievement - cutting off military support for Ukraine.

Liberals act as if the only reason anyone would want to revoke Haitians "temporary" (15 yrs) protected status is because we HATE Haitians. No, the point is, why does everyone across the globe have to come HERE whenever anything bad happens -- high crime>Move to the US; earthquake>Move to the US; tornado>Move to the US; drug cartels>Move to the US; boy falls down a well>Move to the US. Etc. Why didn't Haitians walk across the island to the Dominican Republic in the first place?
Brandon Gill@realBrandonGill

Haitians first received TPS because of an earthquake. That was over 15 years ago. America is not their permanent motel.

A single accountant stole $53 million from her employer over 20 years and nobody noticed Rita Crundwell was the comptroller of Dixon, Illinois with a population of 15,000 She opened a secret bank account called “Reserve Sewer Capital Development Account” For two decades she transferred city funds into it while filing fake invoices She used the money to become the most successful quarter horse breeder in America Owned 400 horses, multiple farms, a custom bus, and a $2.1 million motorhome She won the World Championship in quarter horse breeding four times while actively robbing a small town Only got caught because a substitute accountant covered her desk while she was on vacation The city had been cutting firefighter jobs and road repairs for years while this was happening $53 million. One woman. 20 years. One vacation.

There's no good civic argument for the electoral college. It was arguably necessary to ensure the ratification of the Constitution, but it's an anti-democratic device that gives some American citizens far more voting power than others, based purely on where they live.

Dr. Maria Peiro 🇺🇸 🐊
This is the wrong take on Maria Elvira Salazar. I am one of her constituents in District 27 and I am against legal status for illegal aliens. I know many in my district who voted for deporting illegal aliens. Her district is mostly Republican and mostly Cubans who vote Republican and do not support extending TPS or giving amnesty to illegal aliens. By the way, the Haitian community lives in North Miami, which is not part of her district. She supports amnesty for illegal aliens because she is a RINO and that's why she voted for this that's why she is also pushing her amnesty plan Dignidad Act.
Daniel Di Martino 🇺🇸🇻🇪@DanielDiMartino

I don't think you understand. Her constituents voted for her to extend legal status, not take it away.

We don’t have “workforce shortages.” We’re in an unemployment crisis. You and the Chamber have a “shortage” of workers with low-enough pay standards for your liking.
Rep. Don Bacon 🇺🇸✈️🏍️⭐️🎖️@RepDonBacon

Removing TPS status for Haitians living in the United States would cost 350,000 workers their ability to work at a time when we’re already facing serious workforce shortages. I’ve heard from healthcare providers and business leaders across Nebraska, including @OmahaChamber, who are concerned about the impact this would have on patient care and our economy. I don’t see the goodness of deporting people who are here legally, working, and contributing to our country.

We inherited an agreement where FIFA is providing $0 for transportation to the World Cup. And while NJ TRANSIT is stuck with a $48 million bill to safely get fans to and from games, FIFA is making $11 billion. I’m not going to stick New Jersey commuters with that tab for years to come. FIFA should pay for the rides. But if they don’t – I’m not going to let New Jersey get taken for one.
