Remember Aasif Karim in the 2003 World Cup? He came out of retirement at 39 and bowled one of the greatest spells ever against the mighty Aussies. His unbelievable figures: 8.2 Overs, 6 Maidens, 7 Runs, 3 Wickets (Ponting, Lehmann, Hogg). x.com/CricketopiaCom… x.com/CricketopiaCom…

@OversLife Most controversial decision but at the end it resulted in a win. That's what matters.

@CraigVee It was part of South Africa's strategy. He mostly batted in the lower order below 5 and in the 1999 World Cup at positions 8 and 9, dominating there. I want to highlight his lower-order domination and hence focused on his lower-order explosive batting style.

@NonPlyingChar He actually batted everywhere in his 66 innings. He was NOT predominantly at 8/9. 10.9% of his innings were at 8, 2.9% at 9. The rest were 7 and above. (Of the 49% he did bat). And he batted there in terms of strategy because they needed a hard striker of the ball.

The superstar of the 90s and early 2000s Lance ‘Zulu’ Klusener He used to bat at number 8 or 9. When he batted in those lower positions, he dominated and destroyed the opposition. South Africa at that time had a stacked top order, which allowed them to hide Klusener at the bottom and give him a license to swing freely. During the 1999 World Cup, he repeatedly walked into absolute disaster situations and saved the day from the bottom of the scorecard: Against Sri Lanka: He came in at number 9 when South Africa collapsed to 115/7. He blasted 52 not out off just 45 balls (including hitting 22 runs in the final over). Against Zimbabwe: He came in at number 9 with the team crumbling at 106/7 and scored a measured 52. Against England: He batted at number 8, smashing 48 not out. The Semi-Final vs Australia: He batted at number 8, scoring 31 not out off 16 balls before the tragic run-out. He started as a bowling all-rounder, taking 8 wickets on his Test debut. But his batting became too explosive to ignore.

@NonPlyingChar He was like a Ghost in Green..Ruined dreams of so many teams.. The way he used to kill bowlers during the last death overs was amazing..Quite ahead the time..

🚨 KKR vs LSG today! KKR fans, look away. 🫣 Kolkata is off to their worst start since 2009—0 wins in their first 3 completed games. However, they've won 4 of their last 5 encounters against LSG at Eden Gardens. 🏟️ Does the venue hoodoo continue for Lucknow, or is the KKR "home advantage" a thing of the past? 👇 #AmiKKR #LucknowSuperGiants #IPL2026 #EdenGardens @KKRiders

Alec Stewart made the white helmet iconic with his artistic batting style! We should bring back the white helmet in Test cricket!

Setting 'em up and knocking 'em down. Kapil Dev's out-swinger followed by the perfect in-swinger is poetry in motion. 🏏✨ Before the modern era, there was the Kapil Dev era. Pure class, pure swing.

Nah, not exactly the same designer for every team, but close! All the 1999 Cricket World Cup kits were supplied by ASICS (they designed and manufactured most of them for the tournament organizers). They used a similar oversized template/base design across teams that's why the cuts and fitting looks same.

The 1999 Cricket World Cup had the best jerseys. These iconic 1999 kits featured oversized fits, bold colors, and unique team-specific graphics from Southern Cross stars and lightning bolts to silver ferns, tigers, and lions. Which one is your favorite? Australia India Pakistan Sri Lanka New Zealand South Africa England Zimbabwe Bangladesh Kenya

@chirag_garg For Childhood, I wondered what was on the Indian jersey in the 1999 World Cup. It was the BCCI logo.

@NonPlyingChar The jerseys were based on the logos of the respective cricket boards at that time. These were the days of same kit manufacturer for all the teams in the tournament. Great concept.
