They now generate about 58,000 megawatts of electricity for roughly 100 million people, and they added nearly 30,000 megawatts in just the last five years. At the power plants I visited, the engineers I met were Egyptians, trained in universities in Egypt. We must invest in our people. I have visited every state in Nigeria, and the reality is that there is little production because we have not invested enough in human capital. Take Niger State for example. With about 76,000 square kilometres of land, it is large enough to feed itself and even help feed Nigeria, yet it struggles to do so. Meanwhile, the Netherlands, with about 33,000 square kilometres of land, exported over $120 billion worth of agricultural products last year.
