Angie has been in Seattle for over 30 years and clearly loves this team. She’s every bit as invested in the Mariners as the rest of us, not just as a fan, but as an employee. She is a colleague of the players, travels on the same plane and spends countless hours with these guys. She knows them better than any of us. I imagine having to walk into the clubhouse 10 minutes after witnessing your friends blow a five-run lead in the 9th and still having to ask coherent questions— questions that don’t start with “what the fuck?”— would be difficult. So maybe just let people cope the way they are comfortable and use the tools available to strip the raw emotion in order to be professional.
